Received my e-pro.....

By: Nate Bass
Thursday, March 15, 2007 9:25 PM

In only 2 days. I bought the software and paid for the fee on Tuesday and finished Wednesday night. Has anyone noticed anything positive (or negative) about having an E-Pro. I have read mixed opinions on the internet about it. Simply put, I want to get as many designators as possible...and being a new agent...what a good way to start....Right?

:)

Sorry Nate. I am unfamiliar with what an E-Pro is. May not be something available in my neck of the woods.

Why? Take the course if it makes you better. If not, it is only initals that no one other than another agent will understand. It does not make you better unless it make you better. The client doesn't care how many of thoise you have they only want good service! If it makes you better, do it.

Congradulations & Welcome aboard fellow E-PRO ,Now that you got your shiny new pin and your certificate for your wall you have accomplished what only few agents have. With your newly learned skills you have an adge over those who decided not to educate themselves further.Any self improvment is good and while it is not the only factor that will lead to your success it is a start. The client does not know what those intitials after your name are ,however it is up to you to tell them as part of your presentation. It shows you go the extra mile to educate yourself in order to provide good service and thats what we need more of education and experiance to serve our clients better. And while there are many net savy persons that are not E-Pros You have the credentials to prove it. By the way passing the test in two days is not the only requirment,Wheni took it It was required I participate in the program for at least 30 days prior to recieving the certification. Did they change that?

Next you may want to take the ABR course.

I tried e-Pro for a month or so. They gave a free trial, so I figured "why not."

The program didn't work properly, and for some reason their software wouldn't work on my computer.

That, and the designation means nothing to the buying/selling public.

So I bid adios, e-Pro.

Nate, dude, 'sup dog.

Congratulations on receiving your e-Pro designation!  Use it.  Be proud of it.  The market will choose you if you are top-of-mind, regardless of your designators.  Rely on your consistent and persistent marketing to and following-up with your database.  Your database is your future.  You can't sell your designators when you decide to leave the business one day, but you can sell your database.  Grow it, love it, kiss it.  No time, effort, and dollars are more wisely spent than those that you invest in marketing to your database.  Again, congrats on your e-Pro!  I hope to do the same, soon.  Maybe we can share referrals.

Peace.

Better to spend your money on self-branding, not initials at the end of a name that are meaningless to most consumers.  Unless of course, you feel you are gaining practical information.  However, most is more cheaply gained through your broker or peer network (how about Reliberation!).

I have seen quite a number gain their e-Pro designation in past few years, but I haven't seen these people "emerge" into stardom as a result. I would focus on modeling the top agents in your market.

Hi Nate, That's great if it makes you feel good about yourself, which in turn will be projected to your clients. I agree with some of the comments above that since you are new to the game, thus making resources limited you should focus your dollars on maiking the public aware of who you are and what you do. Have fun with it and best of luck on the adventure.

I was one of the first e-PRO's in NC, and unlike many designations, where you take your class, get those letters behind your name, and never do anything with it --- well e-PRO is like the energizer bunny and keeps going, and going, and going....

Thanks to the e-PRO forum (list serv), I have an endless resource of knowledge about technology products, SEO, website development, and more.  It has contributed thousands of dollars to my income, and saved me just as much.

I have never had to hire someone to help me with my websites, and I have the #1 site in NC for Point 2 (performance wise) and #7 in the country.  I attribute this to my e-PRO ONGOING eduation and to the very helpful Members Message Board here.

And it's a great resource for and to send referrals.  I want agents who are adept at e-mailing and setting up websites specific for my referral clients, that address their search requests.  e-PRO's are almost always good at this.

I will encourage (ok, demand) that all of my agents take this course.  And congrats on doing it so quickly.  That is QUITE an accomplishment! Best wishes!

Nate,

I have been an e-Pro for a while now, and as with anything it is what you make it. It has been positive for me in several ways. First off my Broker is more likely to channel leads that come in over the Internet in my direction or local clients that express a wish to work over the web.  Also as mentioned above there is a ready source of information on web topic available to you from other agents.

I am not sure if you are aware but there is an infromation page that you can link to so people visiting your site can read about what the e-PRO disignation means.  It was mentioned above it is just letters behind your name and that is true to a point, but when I see another e-PRO agent I am confident we can work the transaction for the most part over the Internet. I look at it like when I was in the military, the ranks, medals, awards and citations did not mean anything to the public in general; they told a story to the military member beside you!

Congratulations and make it work for you!!!!

You finished in 2 days, you've got to be kidding, That's terrific! Make sign up for the listserv on e-PRO there's a lot of useful information and it has saved me hundreds of dollars in office supplies, expense and advertising. Only about 10% of Realtors are e-PRO's so its no wonder they never heard of it BUT we refer listings and buyers to each other on the listserv.

Also consider setting up your own FREE Real Estate Blog on http://tinyurl.com/3cyprc on Active Rain Real Estate Network (any Realtor can join), many of us e-PRO's are on that too!

Good Luck

Wow, 2 days?  You must have been determined!  Congratulations, fellow E-Pro.  You will soon be subscribed to the exclusive E-Pro Talk. It's full of some great information!  I visit everyday.

You are probably aware that 6 credit hours can be used as the elective for your ABR Designation.  That would be my next goal if I were you.

Good Luck, and don't forget to check the referrals in RealTown!

I had the same thoughts last year when I entered the real estate business.  I wanted to have some initials after my name and the e-PRO certification didn't have sales volume requirements.  I also figured it would set me apart as there were not too many in my area.  Like Lori Dan and Martha, I have found the e-PRO list-servs to be one of the most important things I took from the program.  Like the message boards on Point2 and RE-Liberation, RealTown and e-PROTalk are great sources of information, camaraderie and referrals.

Good luck.  It sounds like you have made some good decisions.

Hi to all.  I received my e-Pro certification years ago & I have never been sorry.  My notebook has a permanent place on my desk.  It taught me how to do things on the Net, gave me new connections with other agents, improved my self esteem, & much more.  I also want all the designations I can get, although some seem to think this is foolish.  They don't realize the things you learn from other agents and the wonderful people you meet.  Not to mention the mistakes you can avoid by the experience of others.  I urge all REALTORS & all agents to get their GRI especially.  Thanks for listening, Elaine

I got my e-PRO and have found it very useful in dealing with today's tech savvy clients and customers. I am not sure the letters mean much to the public but the services I provide does.
