Point 2 vs. Top Producer (Newbie)

By: Jason Anderson
Thursday, March 29, 2007 10:17 AM

I have been spending countless hours late at night reviewing the benefits of P2 as opposed to Top Producer. Keller Williams actually has their own personalized version of this program. The basic package is only $34.95 a month but I'm wondering if it will offer me anything more then I'm already getting with P2. Any help from all you guys on what avenue I should take or even how to effectively implement both systems. Thanks again everybody, here goes a summarized version of what I'm asking.

  1. Benefits of TP over P2
  2. Benefits of P2 over TP
  3. Benefits of using both

Hi Jason, welcome back I see you got the pic on your site. Looks good!! I do not use top Pro but point 2 has many of the same features. One more suggestion for you to look into is getting IDX or an MLS search onto your page. This will allow you to capture leads and buyers and for them to really see what they want from a real estate site. HOMES!!! Keep on plugging

Top Producer has a better database system but knowing Point 2 they are on top of it  and with a little patience I am sure Point 2 will surpass everthing that Top Producer and other programs offers. In the mean time I use Outlook to keep my database and this syncs with my blackberry. I would recommend that you put the Top Producer money towards a Blackberry or treo.

Hi Jason,

We use both, we use top producer as our contact data base manager and it does so much. In Top Producer we can complete a real professional looking list presentation,  we also are signed up through TP with Top Marketer which generates several leads a month, see example http://www.eastvalleyrealestate.net/Home_Evaluation/page_23644.html it is called Market snapshot. TP has some classes, so sign up and check it out. Hope this helps.

Good recommendation Michelle!

I just got a Palm Treo 700wx and it is just plain WICKED!

I have all my contacts, appts - everything, in Outlook now and I just sync it up everyday.  I am learning more about it every hour and the possibilities are fantastic.

I just love having the internet and my email in my hand and can't wait to figure out how to use it as a modem for my laptop.  I live in the country so there are not a lot of hotspots to be had.

My husband is on the road a lot and he got one too. He is not what one would call a techy but because it is windows based he is having an easier time figuring it all out.

It was the best thing I have ever done for my business - no more sticky notes!

Hello Carmen and Jeff I actually have a the handshake listings on my website, if you click on the second link down it is View DFW Area Listings. Customers have to input name & email and that is automatically text messaged to me. I do not want to go into tech overload so I think I will master P2 before trying to dive into TP. Again all you guys are lightning fast with your responses and extremely helpful. Thanks again for everything, it has been helpful beyond measure.

Basically from what I have gathered they do about the same thing. I think I will hold off and see the new additions and technology P2 is going to release in the near future

The handshake listings are not the same as having an IDX link on your website.

With the IDX link your customers/prospects can search the MLS on your website.

As much as I like P2, there is no way they can offer the the quality database aspect of Top Producer or other available stand alone programs. I have never used P2's current crm program to keep in touch with clients and prospects as it simply is not adequate for my needs. And keeping on top of your database is critical to maintaining contact with your clients and prospects.

Start with TP now, Jason.  It is very unlikely that P2 will ever rival the functionality of TP for what TP does.   The to do list that prompts you every day is great and P2 just doesn't have that.

P2 is useful for the drip system, but TP will do a lot more for keeping your business on track than the P2 drip system ever could.  I'm NOT downing the P2 system, but it's like comparing a car with house.  Both are extremely functional but they do different things while sharing SOME functionality.

I am just now trying to integrate TP into my business plan and I wish I had just done so from the begining...it would have been a lot easier.

Also, I think the ProManage KW TP is $29.95/month, but that might have been a special (so ask for the special if they quote you the other price...who knows, you just might get it!)

P2 is wonderful, but Top Producer has a lot to offer. I mean a lot. If you should decide to get it. TAKE A CLASS on it. From what I understand from Top Producer and classes taught by outside firms. 95% of Realtors use less than 10% of the features Top Producer has to offer. Learn how to use it and it can be a great tool. If you are planning on just buying it for a basic database. Don't waste your money on it.

Hello Jason,

I use both, For contact management go with TP71 Keller Williams Realty version, for website, stick with Point2. I have an unbranded niche website with Top Producer http://WestchesterCountycondos.com

The only thing I like about this website is the search engine placement. I can't customize it like I can with Point2. I've only had it for about 4 months and I'm thinking of switching it Point 2(If I can cancel).

To get up to speed, watch "Your Business Is Your Database" on KW Connect. Watch it as many times as you need so it can sink in. Also, purchase or borrow the TP7i training video and watch it several times as well.

Hope this helps.

I don't use TP but it is a great program. I use Act because that is what I started with and it does fine but I think if I would have started with TP I would still be with it. Point 2 has some great features but a good Contact Management program a must! It can make the difference between success and failure in this business. Tp is designed for Realtors and use it and I think you will find that it is a real time saver and deal saver. Good Luck!

Roland and Linda,

It is part of TP, it was, up until about 2 months ago a set alone lead generator and was a little expensive, I think $35.00 a lead. TP decided to nix this program and offered it to customers to put it on their site for a small fee. I think it is $29.00 a month. It has really saved us some time, even if someone signs up for a CMA on other generators we submit their info to top marketer and presto they have their report. It really does not provide a CMA more of the neighborhood market report. Please feel free to try it out at http://www.eastvalleyrealestate.net/Home_Evaluation/page_23644.html  I promise not to bug you to much!

I use both... They are apples and watermelons... TP is a very powerful database manager and with P2A you have a very limited database manager.  P2A is a web site company that just happens to have a database in it and Top Producer is a database site that just happens to have a web site also.  Like Ron Tarvin said, Top Producer is a much more powerful database manager.

I again appreciate all of the help and assistance I think I will try to implement TP into my new contacts and see how that works for awhile. I find P2's CRM to be useful but I have to admit I feel it could be a lot better. To end this conversation can anybody give me specific details of what exactly CRM wise is better in TP then P2. Please just highlight an example of something you feel is better.
