An American salt water angling team that won their qualifying tournament in the Florida Keys has captured top honors at the International Game Fish Association Offshore World Championship in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
John Timura, Robert Collins and Taylor Walsh, all of Islamorada, Fla., along with Scott Salley of Naples, Fla., and Ken Longaker of Seattle bested 62 other teams representing the United States and 27 other countries after the results were announced yesterday.
Their four-day total of 4,025.6 points were derived from catching and releasing 13 marlin and a sailfish. They also captured a 25-pound, six-ounce dorado.
