Was I patient?

I have been under the weather and a victim of an agent being sick in the office and so after four days in bed and I've still have a fever,  I wanted to discuss ways in which we could better ourselves as Realtors.

For instance, I went to a broker's open today that if I didn't know the area, the directions were wrong.  How many buyer's were lost as a result of poor instructions?

Another agent has a house on the MLS for one price but the internet flyer says it's $50,000 less!  Which one is correct?

I went to preview a home and the listing stated that there was gas hot water heat when in truth, there was hot water steam!

The biggest frustration is that I can't get lenders to all my buyers on financing for the contracts that I want to write!  Something is wrong here!!!  I'm out shopping for new people as we speak.

I'm sitting here coughing like crazy even with the Vick's on my chest and throat lozenges in my mouth and my girlfriend sends me this video.  Then I realize, get some patience Van!!!!

There is always something that puts those wrong directions and wrong information we have in perspective. Thanks for sharing the link; I had to sit here for a minute and ask Him to give me the patience to wait for His will and direction. We get so wrapped up in the little things that we overlook the big picture.

Oh Barb, that was tough to watch.  I felt so sorry for him naturally speaking but then I realized he can do something I cannot do.  It just shows that we need something that no human goverment can provide.

On the subject of wrong information, I chalked it up to mistakes because no agent would willfully print the wrong price or lead you in the wrong direction.  Just count to 5 or 10 and move on.

I hope you feel better!!

Barb, what a great video and thanks for sharing it. It is someone like him that reminds us all that our trials and tribulations are insignificant in the grand scheme. You could be a non believer and still gain some insight form someone like this young man.

As to the showings, it really doesn't matter that much now does it?

Gary you are so dead center on this.  I got up, still with the fever and thinking about that video. I put myself in this man's place, not being able to touch things and I thought how strong his survivor skills are.  In the back of my mind I thought this is every day.  The swimming - pretty clever.  I used to jump off the dock into 5' of water when I was 3.  My Dad as at the shore telling me not to do it but I did it.  You know why?  Because I knew he'd be there to bail me out if I got in trouble.  We as Realtors are and should be the lifeline to the sellers and buyers out there in the industry.  While there is a downturn, this is where the real Realtors shine.  I truly believe it and that's where we need to place our bench mark because when the tough times are over, we want to be remembered by our clients.  So, I believe now is the time for us to turn up the heat in our prospecting.

Gary, I believe that He does bring certain things into our lives to help us grow and reflect.  This man is truly an inspiration for me.

Absolutely and right on! Especially about good info in listings.

I teach MLS skills to our new agents. "Make it easy for [other agents] to sell your listing and you will have a sale AND an ally." That can translate into many more sales.

The reverse of course is also true.
