Deleting remarks will not change perceptions !

The removal button only makes you feel better about a bad statement !

By making a statement in a blog you leave yourself open to the wrath or your peers and others that see you for what you are. We all must think about the whole picture when we sit down and decide to post on this or any other forum, When you take pen in hand and decide to let the community in on how you feel or ask a certain question of your peers you must be ready to receive the answers.

To try and salvage a bad post by removing things you don't like will only make the people who added there thoughts to your remarks see the true person you are. Take a moment to think through your post for what it will become, Then if you feel it is of value to all who might read it, by all means add it for discussion and be willing to take the responses as written even if you later find out that you have made a foolish post.

I agree with your point Mike. I feel the post was effective for what it was written for--attention. To go and erase responses by other bloggers because the original poster didn't like the responses given is ridiculous. What do you expect when you create posts like that?

The only thing I want to be able to remove by using the delete key are bogus prospects :>

Seriously, and in my humble opinion, I think that to delete a response to a posted comment that might not have agreed with the poster shows poor judgment on the poster's part and cause him/her to lose some of his/her credibility.

If I make an "oopsie" in a post or blog and someone calls me on it, my immediate reaction is to clarify if there was a misunderstanding or own up to MY mistake.

We live by our word in real estate and at one time or another we all make mistakes.  Correcting the mistake is acceptable (IMO), covering it up is not.

Mike -

How do you remove posts in a blog????  I know the writer of the blog can delete but can you also remove your own posts from somebody else's original blog?

If you are referring to the offensive blog that was posted yesterday and removed today, I agree with you -- deleting remarks will not change perception.  Then there is the other issue - everything you say here is available to be read by P2 members, other real estate professionals and the public who could be your future clients, unless of course, you appear to be an a** and are slammed by members of your profession.

Mike, I guess I am one of those "peacemaker" type people who is willing to give the writer of that blog you are referring to the benefit of the doubt. It was a bad move on her part, but I am wondering if maybe she is guilty of "thinking out loud" which is what blog is about. There are just some things you don't say. I don't know personally what she had been dealing with to make that statement but I am sure she may regret it now. Who knows? We have newbies in all walks of life, they learn from their mistakes as they make them, like we have, hopefully. I am thinking maybe she wasn't as "seasoned" as she thought to share that thought outloud. Not judging, just thinking outloud.....

Dan,

It was a pretty negative post. I don't recall word for word but something about "yeah, the newbies are gone" and how she prefers to work with professionals. I think it just got everyone stirred up because we were all newbies at one time (some longer than others, :)  )

I think she was just venting a little and thats the rest of the story.....whether we are newbies or oldies (?) we are all basically in the same boat and need to row together instead of beating each other with the oars...so short version, there was an oar flogging..

Hmmm, I missed that too!

I am surprised sometimes at what I read on here.  I think some people fail to think before submitting a post though as some of what agents say can be pretty rude and petty.

Let's try to keep it professional and supportive.

And we can always count on Mike for some humor!

Y'all are right, we sometimes say things (in retrospect) we shouldn't have. Correct way to handle that would be retraction - and apology if called for, not deletion of opposing remarks. I should say, I missed this one though.

Mary Welch, you are FUNNY! Your  "oar flogging" comment really painted a mental picture for me (think 3 stooges and you're there)!
