WHAT MAKES YOU A GOOD AGENT?

By: John Bourassa

This piece is not a statement or an opinion.  They are only questions.

This great new tool  (BLOG) enables us to share ideas and experiences from the best RE Agents across the Nation and the world.

Now I'd like to know what makes you a good Agent?  So, what is (are) your weakness (es) as a working RE Professional Agent and how do you circumvent it (them) to your advantage?

Next question is what is (are) your strength (s) that makes you an outstanding Agent?

One of the most successful agent in SE FLorida who generates well over $1 million dollars in commission each year once said at a local event a few years ago: "that is not your knowledge iofreal estate tha is important, it's how you use that knowledge for SUCCESS that matters."

If your Passion is your work, you are sure to succeed as a Realtor.

I have known of Realtors who do not treat Real Estate as just another career or work, they do it as a Passion and their genuine liking towards the  real estate industry.

One of the most important element of being successful at real estate is the ability to being extremely organised and develop a system to stay on track with your prospects. Generating prospects and not keeping track of them is sure fire way to loose business. I would also like to add the fact that just being knowledgable doesnt help. Whats important is how often do we update our skills on a continous basis and use those skills for solving our cleints problems.

Would love to hear what my fellow members have to say

I agree with Padhi. Passion is key.

I believe in what I do. I honestly believe that each transaction is beneficial to all parties. Real Estate has helped me achieve so many goals in my life (even before I became a Realtor). I know that if I do my job well, I am helping my clients change their lives. I have passion for the industry and enjoy sharing this passion with my clients. I rarely find a client that I can not relate to on some level and do not view the "menial tasks" as a waste of my time (even those that do not turn into a paycheck).

When I've lost ground??  When I become complacent or distracted, or fearful that I do not know enough and someone might realize this.

Tools like this forum are a great way to keep you energized and to renew the passion - and to be fearless.

I think of my business as a service. Why take the time to build a relationship with your client and lose the business because you don't take the time to return a call? Keep in contact after you earn the listing. If you don't have any showing to give feedback on your listing, try just giving the stats from your web site activity. It can be a powerful tool to keep the relationship going. It gives me time to work on my weaknesses and not lose the client
