Thinking about thinking...

Fairwell to my Dell.

By: John Bourassa

My primary Ol' Faithful Dell PC was anointed with holy oils today while receiving its last right. It expired at about 4:30 PM this afternoon.

It is survived by 1 young Dell and an unbranded adopted orphan computer (I thought it only had a floppy but I guess it had a hard drive too Geeked).  During its five years it fought many viruses, was very susceptible to fever for it was frequently "freezing" and has undergone several transplanted component operations.  Alzheimer's finally set in that led to a fatal memory crash.  I will remember it for its unconditional obedience and servitude.

There will be no viewing but there will be a memorial service sometime in the future.   I'll keep you posted.

Hilarious John,

I recently revived my Dell Laptop from the after life. It was a hard comeback...but we rebuilt it, better, faster, stronger and now instead of an inspiron 6000, it is now an Inspiron 6,000,000, rebuilt to serve hopefully for more than 2 years!

You have my sincerest condolences on your loss.

I hear for a small fee, you can purchase a small plot to give it a proper burial in the computer cemetary. That way you can pay your respects occasionally. Of course, the PC's and the Mac's have serarate but equal burial locations in the cemetary!

JP,

I ran across that Inspiron 6K on Dell site today. They should call it the Bankroll 6M.

Sharron or Steve, I still don't know which of you posts or replies. In this moment of grief, can you at least identify yourself?

Anyway, my PC belonged to the Neptune Society and in its Last Will and Testament, it specifically requested to be cremated and have its cremains spread out at sea with instructions forme to make sure I am not in the wind when I open the urn. It also bequeathed me the book Computers for Dummies.

John,

All of the posts and replies are made by Sharron. If I knew how, I would put my own photo on the REliberation posts.

John,

Steve is the brains behind the operation! lol

We learned a long time ago that I am better with words and he is better with numbers, and so, our respective roles in our real estate biz.

John - I am really sorry to hear of your loss. In your time of grief you are not thinking clearly. Please don’t release that mouse into the wild. When I was young, I was burying my goldfish in the back yard when the neighbor asked why I had to dig such a big hole to bury a gold fish and I told him because my dead gold fish was inside his stupid cat. John, there are forces out there that will do harm to the mouse. Please, avoid another tragedy or two.

Gary,

That's funny, the gold fish story.

Sharron, I hope he is not practicing approximate mathematics, though.

John, before burial, please make sure it is actually dead, it could be just hibernating.  I know my laptop does that A LOT.

Did you try CPR?  You know that hard little love tap on top of the machine toward the fan area.  Then two more, one on each side?  However don't use the shake method, that will just scramble the brains.

If none of these worked then just know that Marcia and my thoughts and prayers are with you and yours!

My deepest sympathy for your loss. In sad times, remember the life it had, not the way it left this earth.

I think my last computer committed suicide.  It couldn't handle the pressure any longer.
