Vacation Time

By: Carmen and Jeff Bills
Monday, March 19, 2007 1:43 PM

Ok so this post has nothing to do with buying or selling real estate. It's time to have some fun and get away from all the buyers and sellers, contacts, home inspection, phone calls, closings(did I really say that), ect....you get the drift. So my wife and I always get away at the end of April to celebrate our anniversary, and this year I am at a loss of where to go. So since you all are out there tell me what was your best vacation ever and where did you go? Thanks for all your input and may you sell at least one home today....Cool

Wales, UK

Beautiful country, miss it terribly.

In the states we always go to Missouri/Arkansas area to antique. I don't think my husband enjoys it as much as I do but he hasn't come up with an alternative plan yet so....

Carmen and Jeff, take a cruise to Bermuda. Have someone at your office take care of your business because your cell phone won't work and the ship charges for internet/email are outrageous. So you will be forced to totally relax. The food is great, you'll meet nice people, the weather should be perfect during late April, it's a great trip. (Even though it would be more convenient, don't leave from Charleston on the older ship, get on a newer, bigger and better ship from another port.)

By the way, this could be the post that gets 1000 views. :)

Canadian East Coast.  Relax in Summerside PEI and be treated like royalty.  Cruise on through Nova Scotia and check out Peggy's Cove.  Enjoy fresh lobster (yum-yum).  The scenery is gorgeous and the people are super friendly.  You can't help but relax on the east coast.

Very down to earth and lots of fun.

Canadian West Coast. Victoria is stunning and unforgettable.Vancouver is a blast and a mountain drive will remind you how insignificant all your problems really are.

How about Utah; we still have a couple of weeks left on the ski slopes...I was skiing at The Canyons (www.thecanyons.com) last Friday with fantastic spring conditions.  My wife and I are leaving today, for our place in southern Utah near Zions National Park

( http://www.nps.gov/zion/naturescience/arches%2Ehtm?eid=124103&root_aId=93#e_124103) for hiking and temps in the high 80's. We will be in Bermuda the last week of June for sun and scuba and Malibu, CA in September for the beach.

Charter a private sail boat and cruise the BVI's.  The captain and cook are there to take you to any island, do some diving, shopping, sail, nap. etc and you are the only two they cater to for 1 week.

Just returned from one week in Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic. 28 to 35 C temps consistent through the week. Beautiful beach 26 miles long, Food great, beautiful resorts (we stayed at Iberostar Bavaro), friendly people. We flew direct from St. John's NL Canada to Punta Cana, stayed at the IB 4.5 * all inclusive (meals, drinks, wine with dinner, international liquers, champagne, 7 a la carte restaurants, 3 buffets, unlimited water sports, entertainment nightly, and more) for $1480 per person Cdn +tax.

Do a Google search for cheap all inclusive holidays and the results will amaze you.

Outstanding value! Our third visit to Punta Cana. You'll love it!!

Why don't you grab the kids and take a drive to Beautiful Cocoa Beach, FL. There's a lot to do here or you can choose to vegg out on the beach and the pool. Go to my website, www.platosbeach, and click on the links on my homepage. I've been here since 1990 and have taken vacations, but it's real hard to leave here and always great to come back!

What about South Africa? Get away from it all - have a very inexpensive holiday and get incredible value for your money! Cape Town is just the best place to be and VERY different!Visit the Kruger Park and spend time in our bushveld on safari.

Get a KLM (or any other for that matter) flight out of USA and head to Cape Town! ... Then if Africa is out of the question, go to Lake Winnipausakee...New Hampshire -I loved New Hampshire and have been back often, all the way from South Africa!

Sedona is in beautiful northern Arizona, about 95 miles n-nw of Phoenix, 23 miles sw of Flagstaff (my home and another incredibly gorgeous place). Sedona is famous for it's unique and dramatic red rock formations, countless beautiful outdoor adventure opportunities, art galleries, resorts, golf, horseback riding, backcountry jeep tours, canyons and waterfalls, hot air balloons, celebrities, world-class shopping, excellent restaurants, native american petroglyphs and ruins, and again, SCENERY YOU WILL NEVER FORGET. Bring every camera you own.

Everyone who visits Sedona finds that they return again and again. It's warm these days, temps in the 70s and 80s, but it's not as hot as Phoenix and the lower elevations. There are lots of fun day trips around Sedona also, including thousands of miles of national parks and forests, the Grand Canyon, the quirky artsy town of Jerome, Sunset Crater, Flagstaff and the San Francisco Peaks, Wupatki, etc.

The sky is bigger and bluer and the stars are brighter; the sun is reliable and feels great! C'mon down, I'll treat you to a great southwestern lunch!

We went to the Mayan Riviera this winter and stayed at the Mayan Palace (a timeshare resort).

The biggest pools in Mexico.

Check out the various resorts at www.mayanpalace.com

We also stayed and Nuevo Vallarta, which offered the better beach.

Immaculately clean.

I don't sell their timeshares...although I can sell you one of my weeks if you like :-)

Hey Carmen & Jeff; Regency Yacht Vacations 5200 Long Bay Rd, St. Thomas, USVI 00802 800.524.7676.  Yes, we have taken the yacht trip and will do it again in the next few years.  Pack swimsuits, shorts, sunscreen, flip flops and a dress casual outfit for dinner at a restaurant called On Top of the World.  We charter The Casador - a Danish ship and crew.  The only requirements is breakfast, lunch and dinner which is planned from a check list before you sail and the cook will let you know when it is ready.  Sit back relax and enjoy.

My most memorable vacation was in 1981, I went on an "Outward Bound" type trip to Ecuador for almost a month. I could only take what I could easily carry, ie, one backpack. Crossed the Andes about 8 times, spent one week in an actual hollowed out log on the Rio Negro. No food or water was taken along, we lived off the forest and the river. Ate piranha & wild boar, had to build a fire to boil the water for 20 minutes before we could drink, lived with Native Ecuadorian Indians in a thatched hut.  Another week we lived on the beach, sleeping in hammocks, swimming out into the bay and hand picking lobster from the rocks.  Absolutely amazing to even think about it now. Would I do it again? YES! Survive? Maybe. Would I give up the memories and experience? NEVER!

Not only that, I guarantee you will loose at least 20 pounds.

Bahia de Los Angeles, Baja California, Mexico.

I went there last spring.  Affordable hotel ON the beach...stunning views, warmth of the Sea of Cortez, though not too hot since it's early spring...wonderful locals, art musuem, nearby ancient Mission...

Also Puerto Santo Tomas.  Houses, Cabins and trailers for rent at extremely affordable prices...fresh fish from the fisherman, oh so quiet, great tide pools...(just bring everything you think you'll need, including coffee...) the market is really a lovely woman's kitchen and the most she has to sell is canned soda.

Now I want to go on vacation...dagnabit!

Wow you guys take some awesome vacations. I am like Ed in Florida, I live in and work in a vacation spot. Canyon Lake, TX. But I think I am going to have to visit some of these places. I really thing the best one was Carol and Steve inviting you to Prince Edward Island and the dinner. Very nice of you guys. And you all sound like such great people. I always say, its not where you go, but who you go with....Or who you meet and are with. Hope you enjoy your vacation and I hope to get one soon.
