Hoax. BUT all it takes is one dumb group of kids to take something like this literally. I wouldn't do it . . . I'd call 911 and alert the cops that someone was traveling southbound on I-40 or somesuch w/o lights.

That's unbelievable! I heard this same warning over 13 years ago when living in GA. That makes me wonder about how true this is. I mean, have there been reports of this occurring on the news? Is it truth or a very long-lasting rumor?

Either way, I'm with Candice....call the police and let them know if you see a car traveling in the dark with no lights!

I also heard this one a couple of years ago.  Haven't heard it lately, until now, and didn't know it was still around.  But, I definitely agree with Candice.  All we do is give a group of bored kids a new idea.

Seems far-fetched but then again nothing is impossible. I'll call 911 as Candice suggested.

Sorry - couldn't help it.  We don't have 'bloods' in Canada.  We are lucky if you can find someone with a gun to kill a deer when you hit it... ;-)

On the other hand I always feel like I carry a great big sign that says 'carjack me - I have no gun - I am from Ontario' when I go to Detroit.  Now I have to watch out for bloods too?

Maybe I will stay home.

HOAX. All this does is put this sick thought in some crazy person's mind. Please people, don't pass these kind of "warnings" around without verifying it through local law enforcement or other agencies. There are web sites available where you can check out the so called warnings.

Sorry Carmen & Jeff....I really shouldn't be allowed near civilized people before my third cup of coffee.  I know you mean well.

The really scary thing is that people read, believe and pass along these emails without verifying them.  I still can't believe the number of people who keep posting the Nigerian scam letters here in an attempt to "alert' the public.  

I guess I'll try to stay safe and flash the lights only Sunday through Thursday ... and for those in Northern Illinois ... the next time you see a white Hyundai Accent or white Olds Silhouette without the lights on, please know that it may be me ... I really appreciate anyone who flashes the lights at me.

well once i was driving and it was about 10 years ago, and I had just heard about  this a few days prior, and I see a car with-out lights on driving towards me, im on the Hwy and a Semi-truck is jsut passing me on the right so i think, flash and possibly get shot or dont flash and risk someone else getting hurt, well the good person i am (watching out for others) I Flash, and just a few second after that I heard the a LOUD boom like a gun shot. Holy smokes im being shot at i think and about a sec later the rubber off the semi tire is flying at my... So i havent ever heard of it happening to anyone, but this hoax email sticks out in my head beter then anyone i have ever read... BTW when this one first start i was working for AOL, Fruad and Sercuity department, so We had already marked it Hoax back in 1997
