I'm springboarding off the previous post regarding the media. Decided not to dilute that thread with this thought.
As a means of educating myself about blogging, I've been visiting a few of the P2 Members' blogs. One of Bat Girl's (sorry Becky!) got me to thinkin'. It was a blog about a Lender's efforts to restructure many of the subprime loans. At the same time, foreclosure "victims" were marching on our State House and our Governor declared a moratorium on foreclosures for certain groups. Not being in the foreclosure market, I decided to do some research. Learned a lot. Other Lenders are willing to work with distressed homeowners, as well.
Long story even longer.....I blogged with a few links to the help available. I also emailed my entire distribution list with a message stating "...if you're not in this position you probably know someone who is, we all do, but they'll never tell you...stigma, etc.......please forward...you may help someone without even knowing it.....Please contact your lender...they don't want your house, they want your business! Just talk to them...if they won't talk, here are some phone numbers and some links of other people who are willing to help...." I did add the self-serving post-script that I would add more information on my website, as I locate it.
I've had six phone calls since I sent that email yesterday, all asking confidentiality, which of course I will honor (not big on blogs here, which is why I sent the email), thanking me for the info. The callers said they never knew their Lenders would be willing to work with them. All are working on a solution.
My personal distribution list is over 600. They'll tell two friends, and so on, and so on. Six called to thank me....how many others got that email and are working toward a solution with their Lender but are still too embarrassed to tell anyone? I'll never know. But I know of 6 people whose homes will most likely not go into foreclosure. Six fewer homes in my inventory! And, I got some really good "press".
A Win-Win, as far as I'm concerned.
One again. How Are YOU Using the Media?
