By: Christine Hart Howlett

Has anyone tried to use the Consumer Alliance Coupons (with our photos and information!Smile) that are found in the Members Network. I want to give them out out open houses, but I want to be sure they will really be honored by the respective vendors.

 Any insight?

My team has been using them with the package that we give at closing. Our clients have been impressed. I had one client give the coupon to a friend who in turn called me about her real estate needs. Can it hurt to give something out that cost you nothing?? Didn't think so.

I printed one of the Sherwin Williams coupons for another agent in my office and she used it without a problem.  I always forget about them.  Thanks for the reminder.  I think I'll go out and "spread the love" tomorrow.  One of my customers is having a garage sale.  Those garage sale people will take anything that's free!

Mary, that is such a great ideal, give a little love and promote your business. We have to do everything we can to get our names out in the public. Why not do it for free.

I have just added the coupons to my website on a page so visitors can print the ones they need and they will have my name & hopefully remember me and come back to the site. I'll post the feedback.

I do like the Open House idea also.

Sometimes I use the coupons in my monthly referral mailing, but never thought to use them at open houses!   Great idea!

Thank you, all, for your input.  I'm going to pass these suckers out like they are water - better than a business card because they have value.

Ooops, looks like we have been members since '05, but I know I just created our website and still on going not too long ago.  Based on your discussion, coupons seemed like a great idea to use.

Thanks.

Hi Sonia,  Yes, the Alliance Coupons are for Professional and Premium members and are not available to Standard members.

Thanks for bringing this up... I had forgotten about them and the reason we haven't been using them: The 'layout' and verbiage isn't right for us as a Team (couple).  Our address prints out with a line gap between the Street and City and the verbiage reads as if the coupon is from an individual using singular pronouns.

It may seem like a very minor thing to most people but I'm a tad bit anal retentive and I just like things like that to be "right".  (Medication helps when I remember to take it each day......  Just kidding! LOL)

Does anyone know of an easy way to correct those two issues?

Thank you all for such great tips on the use of the coupons.  I feel like I've been "woken up" to a great idea.  You can't lose when you give and we have the instrument.

Thanks again,

Toni

We can't use them as none of the companies are in our area.  Kind of sucks as we are Premium members but can't take advantage of this.

Margot,

Great idea putting them on your website.  It gives consumers another reason to bookmark the site.

Have any of you worked with the Lowe's realtor program? My team has been using the system for just a couple of months and the feedback has been GREAT. What is nice is that we custom the package for each of our clients so they know we are thinking of them and not just sending out a mass marketing program. It will keep your clients thinking about you before and after the sale!! Oh and yes it's free!! Always looking to save cost!!

The Lowe's realtor program is great. Combine it with the Point2 coupons and you have some very powerful tools - prospecting, keeping in touch with past clients, impressing new clients, etc. I had one client who used the Lowe's coupon for 20 or 25% off carpet and they let him use it for an area rug. Lowe's will also send your clients a pretty nice magazine bi-monthly. And both of these programs are free.

Using Margot's idea I just set up a page with the coupons.  You can't just link to each coupon as they will only print if the member is logged in.  I converted each to a .pdf file and made it a download reports page to use for lead capture.

FOLLOW UP:  I ended up using the coupons today at a community event.  I just completed my personal brochure and thought this event would be a great place to hand it out.  Well, most people put up their hands when I tried to give them the brochure, but then I added the coupon (put it over the brochure and handed both to them at the same time).  As a result, I handed out over 100 brochures.  Granted, many of the brochures were probably thrown out, but maybe, just maybe, one or two people may read it and think of me the next time they need a REALTOR.

I use them at open houses, as part of my closing package and listing presentations.

I would love to be able to create my own coupons for local venders stores and businesses in my local market that I already have deals with to either get discounts or free services.
