I need help!
I recently applied for a reciprocal Salesperson license in the state of Virginia using my current and active Colorado Associate Broker license. I have been turned away by DPOR twice with claims that I do not meet the minimum requirements, which, to my understanding are: 12 of the previous 36 months actively engaged as a licensee in another jurisdiction and license must be in good standing. I have turned in all required documentation and even went as far as taking and passing the State Exam, but they are now saying that I must take the national portion as well (this was NEVER mentioned to me prior to this point)!
I looked up the license recognition in Colorado, and according to our board, we have limited license recognition with Virginia. This basically means that, although it is not full recognition, the ONLY requirement for a salesperson to obtain an Associate Broker license in Colorado is to take and pass the State portion of the exam. http://www.dora.state.co.us/real-estate/licensing/recognition.htm Shouldn't it work the same the other way around?
Please, if anyone has any information or personal experience with this issue, your input is greatly appreciated.
