Operating In the Past

I didn't want to hijack Mary's post about agent communications, or lack thereof.

I have a transaction working right now with a LA that has done an excellent job of communicating with me. It is a short sale and I know she has worked her tail off with the banks, (yes, a first and second).

My only issue with her is she insists on faxing every document. By the time I receive something that she has faxed to her sellers, they have faxed back to her, and she sends it to me, I can't read squat. My lender can't read it and I know his processors will not accept the documents. I am now in the process of trying to get legible copies of everything from her.

She works with a very large and tech savvy broker. I know that their offices have the most current computer hardware for scanning, email...heck, even online transaction management and digital signatures.

I guess I am spoiled but if you are going to work in this business today, please use the tools available to most everybody today. Hardware prices are so cheap today, there is no reason why anybody should still be faxing like we did 20 years ago.

Illegible contracts are not legal docs. I would like to see how many brokerages would be compliant if audited with some of those '10th generation faxes'.

Just a cheap scanner or online fax would eliminate so much of that.

I am married to Docusign for that reason. Everyone gets signed originals!

I agree Gary, every job requires certain tools to accomplish it, real estate isn't any different. We need to keep up.

Our MLS even provides Mongo Fax as part of our package of goodies.  Sends your fax to anyone with a email address.  Grated there is a fax involved but I have had little trouble with legibility.  It is amazing where we have gone in the last 10 years!

ours provides Mongo Fax as well.  I love it!!  But if you can't get her to use the technology, go to her office and get legible copies.  I delivered a contract back to a selling agent today.  I knew with him scanning and emailing to me, me printing and signing and faxing to my client (could only recieve a fax, couldn't print) and him faxing back to me, one more fax was going to "destroy" that document, so I offered to bring it to him.  He was thrilled!!!

Guess what? I am going to try to get him to sell more of more listings : )   I am the easist listing agent in the world to get along with.  Not a pushover, but will keep things going!!!

Gary,

I bought a Scan Snap scanner a few years ago and I love it.  I email 80% of my listing and purchase agreements.  It is much easier and more legible.  I bought my on Ebay for around $300.  Anytime I do a transaction with an agent that faxes to much, I tell them about my Scan Snap and send them to ebay.

I have noticed a few of the offices in town now have scanners for their agents.  I think that is a great thing1

Jana, Marcia, Shelley .. so glad you have been happy with MongoFAX!

One of the reasons traditional faxes loose their image quality is because each time it is faxed it gets reduced by 10% in size. With MongoFAX we actually keep it at 100% size, so even if you faxed a legal sized document, the recipient could print it legal size :)

Another reason why MongoFAX is clearer is because the basis of our technology is that we actually convert standard fax machines into scanners, so essentially you are scanning via your fax machine.

So Gary, if the lady you are referring to has a hard time adopting the new technologies available today, I think she would easily adopt MongoFAX because she wouldnt need to change anything in her repertoire, besides replacing her cover sheet with a MongoFAX cover sheet. To her she's sending a regular fax through the fax machine and the benefit to you is that you receive it as a PDF to your email.

Thanks for letting me comment and let me know if I can answer any other questions regarding the service :)

Respectfully,

Shawna
