Snow in Georgia

By: Gloria Losie
Sunday, January 20, 2008 5:17 PM

It snowed yesterday and it has not melted.  It will be in the teens tonight.  I realize the Northern's are going to have a laugh at this.  I don't know how you do it.  There goes my heating bill up up up....I miss California's winters.  Hope everyone is staying warm this week.

I'm warm in So Cal! Now watch, the jet stream will move west and we will get the arctic chill just for saying that!

BTW, what happened to global warming? :)

It is really cold in PA today 15 degrees but it hasn't stopped open house traffic. I would bundle up and look forward to spring.

It was an unseasonably warm 38 degrees in Southcentral Alaska today...go figure!  Believe it or not, I am enjoying this...at least it's not 10 below.

Gloria, my folks live in Trenton, GA...and they say it is cold there too.  Hope it warms up soon.

Hah, it was a balmy -20c out here today.  I was triving back to my house from the farm and I slipped of the trail through the field and stuffed my truck into a nice crusty snowdrift.  After digging for 20 minutes to clear around the wheels, my wife the hero comes and pulls me out with her expedition!  I may not love winter, but I LOVE my wife! :)

I would like to know, when it is cold, are you still going to as many presentations?  Betty says open houses are still getting traffic.  Maybe you get used to it.  Here they cancelled Church.  Georgians can't take the cold weather and snow.  It wasn't icy.

I promise not to poke fun at you Gloria!  Believe it or not, I do actually empathize with you.  If you're not used to it, it can be pretty rough.  I know a lot of Southwest to Northeast transplants who are not prepared for how cold it can get.  They really look forward to the snow but when it arrives can't leave the house.  Wrong tires, wrong clothing, and, understandably, afraid of ice.

Spring will hit you soon!  Hang in there.

You must be used to it and enjoy it.  If I lived in it all the time I would learn to enjoy it.  I wish you much success this year.

It's 16° in Michigan and feels like it is about 3°,  yesterday was much colder with a strong wind.   I jumped snowbanks and was up to my knees in snow showing property,  not my favorite time of the year to show,  but when the going gets tough the tough get going (LOL), right.     The client was going to the winter ice festival in tip up town with friends after the showing.  Now that's a die hard Michiganer.

Sue, Welcome!  I don't recall seeing you here before.

I didn't know Michigan had an Ice Festival.  I've always want to attend the one in Quebec.  Friends have been there and say it's absolutely stunning!

Today was actually quite nice.  About 21 but only a slight breeze.  My son went skateboarding.  I had to convince him NOT to wear shorts.

Sue, I'm a transplanted Michigander.

Gloria, as far as listing presentations, showings,etc....nothing stops us, not even 10-15 below zero.  We just leave the vehicles running, run in show the house, and run back out jump in the car and on to the next one...LOL

I do sympathize with you though, I know in the South when you get inclement weather, they are not as prepared as in the north with snow removal equipment, etc., and it can get scary.

I have to bring this up on this post.  It's SO COLD!!  Last nite, my wife was driving into the lane, the truck slid into a tree just off the side of the lane and instead if the plastic front bumper denting and scraping, it shattered!  A good 2' x 2' part of the front bumper now MISSING!

Then, I got up this morning and found the house rather chilly, it was only 60 degrees.  The propane in my tank outside had gotten so cold it wouldn't vaporize.  Thats colder than -42!  My GMC's outside temerature guage said oc, too cold to read, and my Expedition once I got outside read -43 in the sunshine.  Thank goodness it was only -25 in the garage (thanks to a 1500 watt electric heater).  So I did what I had to do and now I have a big blue hotdog in my back yard.  I put 2 500watt work lights under my propane tank (1000gallon), wrapped it in a blue tarp, and sealed it off with snow.  2 hours later, the furnace in the house was working!

The adventures of being an Albertan, 3 days I was shovelling slush out of my garage at -5!

But, it looks like the weather is taking a turn for the better.  It'll be a balmy -25 tomorrow, I have the sun tan lotion ready!

Pat, I didn't know you could even have slush at those temperatures. Thank goodness you have a sunny disposition. You need it for that kind of weather.
