Putting pictures on your blog

By: Howard Arnoff

I was asked by Gloria to further explain how to put a picture on your blog. While the answer is likely in the forum, it has been pointed out that many Reliberation fans prefer the blog to the forum but if it goes to the forum per the moderators, please follow this post there.

Do you see the little button between the tree and the smiley face? That is the content selector and it is how you place pictures on your blog. When you click it, a folder will appear. The next thing you have to do is add a picture so click the add a picture link, then browse your hard drive for the picture. Once it is downloaded, repeat the process of clicking the content selector button and opening the file folder but this time, your picture is now there. Select the picture and decide how large you want it to be, thumbnail through large, I find small is good and then hit ok. The result is below. I hope this post makes everything more clear.

Hi Howard.

Thank you for your post.  That may be the way it works on your computer, but on mine, it is entirely different.   It took me a few more steps.   I'll try to summate them.  Once you have opened a new thread (blog message):

1. As you said, from the "Body" menu, select "Content Selector"

2. Click the "+" next to "Photos"

3. Click the "+" next to "Contributors"

4. Find your name on the list and double-click it

5. Now in the right hand corner, select "Add Pictures"

6. Browse your hard-drive for the pic you want to add and double click it.  This actually transfers it to RElib for your future use, NOT into your actual Blog message.

8. Click "OK".

Now that you've saved the photo, or many photos, to RElib, you kinda need to start over and step #4 above.  Find your name on the list, and open that file; you'll see all the photos you've saved before; click on one and it should appear in your blog.

Remember, only the author of the blog gets to put pics in; not the subsequent responses.

Maybe I'm wrong, and frankly I'm sure I am (!), but that's generally the way I found that I had to do it.

I think the former makes more sense than the latter simply because the relib server would then have to store all those pictures way too many times.  Having said that I may be just as wrong.

Fact of the matter is (and this may or may not give Gloria hope) half the time I manage to make many things work only to discover that I don't remember how I did it last time!

With my video blogging etc. the learning curve added in to SEO and about three hundred other technical things I have learned lately and top it all off with figuring out all the pool chemicals and funky kid's math homework - my brain is definately in need of a new storage area.

Makes a good case for wearing a helmet when playing hockey.

You are wrong, Laurie.  Who says it must make sense to you?

If you would try it before you "think" you would see.  In figuring it out, I loaded 4 photos, which are still there now.

Phil,

You may have gotten wrong also!

What you do is write your blog and then find ANY six year old and tell them to post it with the pictures you want and 3 minutes later they are up on the internet!

Nope.  I got it right, Todd.  I took the time to actually walk thru it twice and took notes in order to help Gloria and others insert pictures.

LOL - I stick with the tax write off of giving $2 to a six year old to do it for me.

Phil, I thought Gloria's original question had to do with pictures on the personal blogs, not Reliberation and the procedure is similar. I didn't bother with the + signs, I thought that would be self explanatory to open the folder you wanted the picture to go into. Laurie, I would like to know how you are posting the YouTubes, could you let those of us without 6 year olds know.

That could explain the two different versions, Howard.  I thought she meant at the RElib blog.

Oh well, either way, hopefully it works.

Thanks.
