A) FOUR JOBS I HAVE HAD IN MY LIFE:

1. Doughnut-Route owner  -  I was in 6th grade and came up with this concept.  I made a killing!  I delivered hot, fresh doughnuts to people's doorsteps on Sat and Sun mornings.  In 3 months I had enough money to buy a motorcycle...my folks said I was only 12 and couldn't, but I reminded them of the "Well, if you want one, buy it yourself" conversation they always used on me.  They stopped using that henceforth.  AND I bought a cycle!

2. Dishwasher in a hospital (in high school)

3. Quality Control Tech in a baggie factory (STOP laughing!   This was a great summer job in college.  One of the few I could get where I wasn't working outside in the oppressive Louisiana heat!).

4. Radio Personality/DJ at a Top 10 and a Huge country station (Also in college....  The DJ ran both stations at the same time.  It was really wild!   Frankly, a great job.)

B) FOUR MOVIES I COULD WATCH OVER AND OVER:

The Godfather

Blackhawk Down (really scratches that "Guy Movie" itch!)

The Big Lebowski

The Kung Fu Hustle (don't knock it until you've watched it!  FUNNY!)

C) FOUR PLACES I HAVE LIVED: Air Force brat...I could fill this entire page!  Highlights:

Okinawa (high school)

Then as an adult:

Boston

Indianapolis

Denver

D) 4 TV SHOWS I LOVE TO WATCH: I don't watch any "TV shows"...I did like "Arrested Development", but they canceled it!

But I like:

Most golf tourneys

All playoffs (Stanley Cup, World Series, Sweet 16 on in, and most NFL games)

E) FOUR PLACES I HAVE BEEN ON VACATION:

Hong Kong

Tampa

NYC

Steamboat Springs

F) FOUR OF MY FAVORITE FOODS:

Thai

Sushi

Mexican

Pizza

G) FOUR PLACES I WOULD LIKE TO BE RIGHT NOW

1. On the golf course

2. At escrow picking up my check

3. In my hot tub (and not alone ;)

...Did I say on the golf course?...oh, yeah, already did that...err...uh...

OH YEAH!!!   Visiting my (pregnant) daughter in Louisiana!!!  She's due in October!!!   That would be my #1 place to be right now!!!!  And I'd forgot about all the rest of the above!!!

OK you knuckleheads, my job putting up guardrails was NOT as part of a prison chain gang (though it would be *excellent* for those purposes).

I actually applied for a job with the Highway Department when I was 18. I thought I'd get to drive a cool truck. Instead I got put on guardrail duty. In the summer, in the central Texas heat. It paid about 5 times minimum wage, which is great when you're 18.

After 3 weeks on the job, I was the senior man on the crew. Most people lasted 2 or 3 days. It's brutal, backbreaking work. And people throw stuff at you from passing cars. I quit after two months.

It's mostly a spectator sport, though recently I've been thinking about taking a cooking course.  I used to cook quite a bit, but my husband's favorite (I mean, FAVORITE) foods are PIZZA, sandwhiches and hamburgers...

I love the cooking competition shows - it amazes me that these people are given 30 minutes to come up with something out of nothing and they actually are able to do it.

When I was 13 I started mowing yards and one of my customers was our next door neighbor, a RE broker and investor. He had more money than anyone in our neighborhood and drove the nicest car (a big deal to a 13 year old). He liked my work ethic (and the fact that I worked hard and cheap I am sure) and had me start doing a lot of work around the numerous rent houses he owned. I’d do landscaping, painting, replace carpet and other floor coverings. This was my introduction to real estate.

Most of my other junior high and high school jobs (and I always had at least one but often more than one) were in fast food hamburger type places, McDonalds, Burger Chef, and Minute Man. The summer after my senior year in high school I worked at a factory/lab/dark room where they developed film.

In college I was a pre-med major and got a job in a hospital as a clinical lab  tech, drawing blood. I also worked as a teaching assistant in the chemistry department of my university.

In grad school (Optometry) I had several different jobs. I worked at Budget Rent-A-Car, waited tables, had a summer job as a security guard at a PGA golf tournament, which turned into a night job as a security guard at a furniture factory and later an orthopedic hospital. I was also a teaching assistant while in Optometry school.

I got on an Army scholarship program while in Optometry school and upon graduating had to serve 3 years in the Army as an Optometrist with the rank of Captain in the Medical Service Corps. They sent me to Germany for that 3 years and this gave me the chance to travel all over Western Europe during my 30 days leave time each year.

Then I settled in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area of Texas where I practiced Optometry for many years. During those years I began investing in real estate, often with my uncle who is a RE broker. He was always telling me I should get my RE license and eventually my broker’s license even if  I continued to practice Optometry fulltime. He felt having a RE license was an advantage when investing. Eventually I followed his advice and got my RE license. I am working towards my broker’s license now. I still own an Optometry practice and employ other Optometrists but spend my days in RE, investing and as a Realtor.

I feel like I have almost come full  circle since those days when I used to do grunt work for our neighbor the RE broker and investor at age 13.

Wow, I only covered my jobs here. Oh well that is enough.

Hmmmm...

Four Jobs I've had:  Legal secretary (ick), consumer affairs, claims and customer service manager, RE Asst.

Four movies:  Dirty Dancing, any Lord of the Rings, any Bournes, A Walk on the Moon.

Four places I have lived:  Lynn, MA, Sarasota, Salem, MA, Revere, MA

Four TV shows I love to watch:  CSI (prefer Vegas version), Numb3rs, Criminal Minds, Law & Order (any).  Basically, what I'm doing is researching my perfect crime.  Little bit 'o this, little bit 'o that.  I've had to add Burn Notice and The Closer and am almost done with my research phase.

Four places I have been on vacation:  Tampa, Grand Bahama, Puerta Playa, Dominican Republic, Ireland (my favorite).

Favorite foods:  Meat & potatoes with fresh corn, my lasagna, Zuppa Toscana from the Olive Garden but I've found the recipe online and can make it myself now, broiled schrod at the Chart Room, a reuben sandwich and bloody mary from The Silver Lounge (great cure for "the day after").

Four places I would like to be right now:  I'm pretty sure I'm where I'm supposed to be now but if I had to be somewhere else it would be Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, or Scotland holed up in an archive with some parish records researching my family history.

This was a great read, Howard!  Thanks!
