Where is everyone moving? 2007 Relocation Trends

By: Jana Davis & Marcia Demerjian

We have noticed through the years that there were certain locations that our relocating sellers were moving.  In the early '90's there was an influx of people moving to Colorado.  A few years later it seemed all of Los Angeles was moving to Las Vegas, NV.  Shortly after that it seemed Phoenix, AZ was the place you want to be.  The last two years it has been Austin, TX.  We have not noticed a trend this year.  Seems most of our sellers are staying in State, either locally or within a 50 to 100 mile range.

Are you seeing a trend in your area?  Where are your relocating seller's moving?

Most of our sellers are moving locally in the north metro Atlanta area.

We have a lot of buyers waiting to move here when they sell the home where they live now.

I hope they sell soon!!

Most of our buyers are moving in from Florida.  The problem is they are having a hard time selling there homes there!  We also have alot of 2nd home buyers, so that keeps us moving even in the slower times.

We have a lot of folks moving here from up north.  Almost all my leads lately have been people from the Northeast and Midwest wanting to move here to the Charleston area.  Many are older couples looking for a place to retire, but I've had a fair share of young families too.

Most of our buyers are hoping to move to the Northeast Georgia mountains from Florida. Like Lucia's clients, many are "looking" and "finding," but they can't do anything until they sell their Florida homes!

They are moving to Central Texas! We are getting folks from all over. Our real estate is still affordable. The cost of living is affordable. Our climate is good. And then there is me. JK>

I too have several Florida buyers trying to sell. And hurrican season is now upon us. I have worked with a Florida buyer for over 6 months now waiting on a home to sell. Come on, you Florida Realtors, put out some good blogs about how wonderful life is there. So you have high insurance, we have high property taxes. Get on the ball. Give them a gift certificate to the nearest motel for shelter when the bad boy comes in. LOL. One of the other blogs was talking about creative home buyers gifts, well........hurricane evacuation kit????

Vance I hope I took out the right one...

If they all want to get away from hurricanes they will need to move west!  The whole east coast is pron to hurricanes.  Except I don't think I have heard of any in Maine.  Does Maine get hurricanes?
