Closing gift idea

By: Team DiMuria

we have started giving our clients florescent light bulbs as closing gifts. I is a real win-win for the agent...you help you clients save money (one florescent bulb uses the same energy as 4-5 regular bulbs) and you show them you are socially conscious by giving them a gift that helps reduce global warming. Our clients love it so far!

Hey Team D, I've never seen you post here so welcome. You have a bright idea. I think I would throw in one of those scented oil rings to add to it. The safe ones.

Ignore Radley, he's recovering and a little grumpy.

What a great idea!

I like the idea, but hate the type of light it gives off. That is just one spot we can't be environmentally conscious.

it is all about the lighting.

At any rate, anything that shows our social conscience, 'kinder gentler side' etc is good, since the public perception is that we're the aliens from 'They Live'.

I spend about fifty dollars...it will give you enough bulbs for most of the home. Sams club is a great place if you are a member...six 100 watts for $12

That is a great price for them!  I use them in most of my overhead lights, and laundry room but need the regular for reading :(  I am waiting for those to improve too.  You could put a full Green basket together for them too, with the bulbs, and earth friendly cleaners like the Shakely brand.

Great idea. Most of my fixtures have the little spirals in them but I have found that they don't come close to lasting as long as they claim they should. Wish I was better at saving receipts so I could take or send back the duds.

Who is doing the posting from your team? Jeffrey or Mona?

Being green is great but are you aware that fluorescent lights contain mercury? Maybe the jolly green giant is who we should leave being green to! What are you doing with the old bulbs!

Plant a tree for them if you want to be green. Stop listening to the hype and look at the truth!

Wow you mean to tell me Gene that those bulbs are used for lighting?

My wife and I bought some because we wanted to be Green also.

Now we know why they did not work!!! we waited all year until this spring and not one bulb even bloomed after we planted them , we were very upset !!!

Really we had bought some and took them back asap, we could not get use to the different light they give off and they seem dim.

Funny Vance!

We tried them for several months and came to the conclusion that they save energy because they put out so little light that you just don't bother turning them on when you enter the room.... could have saved energy and money by just leaving the burned out bulbs in the sockets. LOL   We ended up tossing the spiral dimwits... sorry, Gary, we didn't know their disposal was unsafe.  (sigh)

Tim - I just heard about the mercury problem a few weeks ago. The stupid light will make you go blind because they are so dim and now they are going to poison the water supply when they get thrown out. We will end up storing them next to the nuclear waste somewhere!

LOL - Another case of damned if we do - damned if we don't.... just damn!

This reminds me of a fascinating study I read recently showing that the environment problems associated with producing the 'enviro-friendly' cars far outweigh the benefits gained in driving them.  It has something to do with the type of battery used and what is involved in its production.

This is a bit spooky. I just had the County Pollution Officer in my office. His purpose for the visit was to find out how we were disposing of our florescent bulbs since they are considered hazardous waste. Disposal cost is 15 cents a foot and you have to keep the receipt for three years. Improper disposal is a fine of up to $12,000. He provided me a list of items that fall into the waste category.

What are the odds of this happening!!
