Netbiz contacted me for paid placement, is it worth it?

Hello all. I have been contacted by netbiz who said they can guarantee me a top placement on Yahoo search with key words for my area. $79.95 set up and $100 a month. Do any of you use them? Is this a good price? What do you think? Thanks!

Hi

I would contact Carmen and Jeff Bills, they are running paid placement on yahoo.

I would be more interest in click throughs than top palcement

I don't really use placement services, but I think you would be better off learning how to do it yourself. Why waste that much money a month. I'm with MaryAnn - More click throughs than placement.

I just started and will try it for 3-4 months.  I am willing to try.  However, natural placement is so much better.

I was also contacted by netbiz, the set up fee was 79.00 with 50.00 monthly for top placement with google, last time I checked I was number one in placement for my area.  The good thing is that you can cancel anytime, I am going to give it a few months then decide if it's a good form of advertising for me.

It's my first time using a placement company, I'll see if it's worth it.

Placement won't help if you don't have a good "landing page", so be sure to pick a page that is "sticky" and can capture contact info, otherwise the money spent is all for naught.

Generally speaking, you can set up your own PPC campaigns for cheaper than paying someone else to do it for you. (Much like anything in life -- doing it yourself is almost always cheaper than paying someone to do it for you).

And of course the big drawback to paid placement -- it goes away completely the second you stop paying for it.

Also, realize you are paying for top placement in PAID/Sponsored results, not natural search results. Some studies show only 30% of search engine users click on sponsored results. That's still a boat load of people though, but it's important to understand the difference...
