Real Estate Poem...Are you a poet and didn't know it?

By: Karen Weger
Friday, August 10, 2007 8:33 AM

Long Classroom hours I endured

Learning contracts, real estate law

Fair Housing and mathematics for sure

Dreams of making my fortune was the draw.

Stumbling out the classroom diploma in hand

Without hammer and nails I began to build my career

Peers are full of free advice

Floor time would be nice, I will pay the price.

Like a tide my learning begins, highs and lows

Sell fell through, buyer forgot to disclose

Interest rates double, market declines

cell phone bill, car note, MLS dues are mine.

Sink or swim comes to mind, go the extra mile

Stop listening to negative, use your talent, smile

Work long hours, market, you are not alone

After all everyone needs a home.

Today is prosperous, computers are near

Knowledge flows through parascopes

Look, listen and learn, take your hopes

and dreams to new levels, this you here.

Point 2 is my compass I use to navigate

Reliberation is my island I visit to raise my spirit

Learn and frolic with the peers I hold dear,

admire and exchange knowledge, here it?

West coast is sleeping, East coast is weeping.

Are you a poet and didn't know it? Lets here it.

As lenders turn red and Realtors turn blue,

It seams that the market is turning the screws.

What once was so easy has become quite a bit

breasy.

Take them to notice that were fending off lotus

and gone with the wind are the days of quick loans

to all the people I say "get ready for groans".

We all will work harder for our share of the pie

in hopes that our own dreams won't go by the wayside

So its off to the running of the latest race, And I for one

go with a daunting of pace.

You asked for a poet and man don't I know it that I am

not one and this is just for fun.

Deck the halls and stage the bedrooms, fa la la la la, la la la la.

You can't learn this in the boardroom fa la la la la, la la la la.

It looks great, when will they buy it fa la la, la la la, la la la.

Staging works, why dont' more try it fa la la la la, la la la la.

Neutral carpet, neutral colors fa la la la la, la la la la.

Sure to bring in extra dollars fa la la la la, la la la la.

Place a plant and put a chair here fa la la la la la, la la la

Buyers shout, "we want to live here" fa la la la la, la la la la.

I had to do a Christmas ditty to help with the heat, it is still poetry, right?

With license in hand I forged ahead,

Visions of contracts whirled in my head.

Lo and behold, I found a buyer;

My broker said he might be a liar.

I showed him homes and bought him a meal,

Closing in on my very first deal.

He liked the cottage at 22 Crawford,

Tomorrow, he said, I’ll make an offer.

The next day came and then it was gone,

The buyer would not answer his phone.

I called and called ‘til my fingers were sore,

I’ll make this deal, I solemnly swore.

Three days later he gave me a call

His loan pre-qual had taken a fall.

Oh, I was flummoxed and taken aback –

My buyer had bought a new Cadillac.

A Realtor’s life can be made very simple

Just look like a star and have a big dimple (or other things)

Your smile will win them over almost every time

But if you have a hot-body they surely sign on the line!

This is not say the ugly one’s can’t succeed,

It just means an assistant they need.

Although this all meant just to be funny

Look out for the client that stats calling you Honey.

It may be a house you trying to sell

But the client you’re dealing with may be a product of Hell

So with warning in hand and all our best wishes

Go sell a house or you’ll be swimming with the fishes! – Dom Vito Corleone

Go Craig! By the way folks, poetry does not have to rhyme. Poetry is neat cause you let the feelings flow. You can get a message or feeling across without having to write a novel. Just a poem. I have always loved poetry. Thought it would be fun.

Here goes - a homage to the Ethics class I took today.

Today was the day

To enter the door

Of the room of the class

We must take every four

Years to remind us our duty sworn

To uphold the highest and best use

Of the land we adore

REALTOR® Ethics? They cry when we say we adhere

To a code of such high standards that makes

Some tremble in fear

Of failing to meet

The demands of those 17 Articles

Laid at our feet

Who knew? They say having just been burned

By the agent/car salesman who’s soul has turned

Only to the quest for the almighty dollar

No matter who gets churned

We know and hold it close to our vests

The heart of the REALTOR® beating in our chests

We love the land and serve our client’s invest-

Ments

With the golden rule as our guide

We’re on your side.
