So What's Up (or not) With Trump Tower Tampa?

If anyone of you have been following this project, you are aware that it has not been a smooth progression.  Trump Tower Tampa, the 52-story riverfront project located at 111 S. Ashley Drive in Tampa, has seen numerous setbacks.  Originally being developed by SimDag LLC, the project was acquired by Mirabilis Ventures, Inc., an Orlando based private equity firm, in November, 2006.  With this acquisition, came nearly $3.3 million in construction liens.  Insisting at that time that the project was still "alive and well", it has just been reported that Trump Tower Tampa is now being pursued for acquisition by The Related Group, a Miami-based developer who is building three Trump projects in South Florida.

What does all of this mean?  Donald Trump has continuously expressed his frustration with this project.  It is my personal belief that he will not sit quietly by while this project fails.  We all know how he wants to project and protect the "Trump" name.   I am really interested in hearing your perspective on this.  If the final construction plans resolve all ground stability issues, do you really think this project will go up?

Laurie,

Trump has partnered with Jose Perez of Related in West Palm Beach with a stalled condo project and with a big splash and bravado of the Trump style, says that sales are going great now and should have most units committed in 90 days.  We hope for the success.  We'll wait and see.

Ruth,

Thanks for your feedback.  I have been following this project off and on over the past year and find it all very interesting.  Ground stability issues were said to have been resolved and they are just waiting for the equipment to install the caissons.  However financially, the project appears to be crumbling before it starts.

I guess we all will just wait and see.
