Flagged and removed craigs list

By: Lisa Bachek

P2 now has under synidacation to post directly on craigs list.

Has one one had problems with being flagged and removed when  done directly from P2?

I posted all my listing this morning received notice from Craigs List and an hour later everyone of them was flagged and removed.  I have read other post about this but not when it was available a direct link to craigs list from P2. They give you step by step instructions realy easy to use, but not staying posted.

I do have an account with them.

I had the same happen on one of my properties but have still not been able to determine what caused the removal.  I would love to get a response as to why.

I think that anyone can flag a posting and it comes down almost immediately.  I haven't had that problem but I think that is how it works!

I would expect this will be removed to the message boards shortly. Go read the threads there. There seems to be some kind of issue with the way they are coming from P2A, hopefully they can resolve it.

I'd love to see a moderator update us on this. It's a neat function, and a real time saver if they can get Craigslist to sign off on it.

I think they are working on this problem.  I would post it on the message board.  Seems like a small number of people are having the problem.

I use vflyer and post them myself.  I can't seem to use the Point 2 feature for some reason.

We talked about this last week in Great detail.(see message board)  However, a moderator was supposed to get the problem resolved and get back to us.  Has anyone heard of the outcome?  I am hanging in limbo...waiting to repost the 20 listing that were removed after three days...during that time I had a huge increase of exposure.  I sure would like to repost and get these listing sold!

It also depends who flagged and removed you. Was it just flagged and removed or are the removed by staff. If they are the removed by staff, P2 is working on that. If is flagged and removed, that means craigslist users flagged you and had the listing removed and that could have been done just because you are a Realtor.

CL postings must be flagged by 4 viewers to be removed. In our community, we have listings flagged for being continually posted day after day, the same poster posting theis adds four, five, six in a row (not taken kindly to by the CL community) people posting adds that force you to "make contact" as opposed to clicking through to view only. There are several reasons for flagging. If you use it often enough, and read through the rules, you will get the feel for the community. Having said that, each city's community is different.

When the feature was first added I had my postings "staff deleted."  I think that was the term - not flagged.  Last week I posted one and it was fine.  I posted another one this morning and so far so good.  I think it is best not to post a lot at one time.  Flagging is done by the users.  Post several and you risk getting flagged.  The bigger problem was the staff deleted posts.  A better strategy is for you to space them out so you always have something posted near the top of the list.

Mary - experienced exact same thing - deleted - posting no more than 1 per day now and is ok for now.

We just heard from P2A staff: Craigslist rules state that you can post only 1 listing every 48 hours. If you try to post more all of them will be flagged and deleted. This is to prevent posts done by "automated posting agents".

We agree that one post every few days will keep one of your listings near the top of the list!

Yes I got the staff-deleted thingy from CL too....and after reading Mary Matero's comment here I now realize the staff deleted posts were the ones I did through CL.  I have reposted outside of Point2 link and so far no problem.

Here in Portland Oregon CL real estate is enormous.  I am finding that ads in our local papers and real estate mags bring little or no response.  Even those for open houses.....most buyers who come saw it on CL.

I have also noticed a sharp upswing in FSBO's...CL eliminates two of the real problems for them....ad dollars/exposure.  Pretty ironic that the same FSBO who boasts of his security system, will run an ad and invite any old joe on the street to come on in. (I for one explain to my sellers the risks of open houses in a world not as safe or trustworthy as in the past, not to mention that enough Realtors are harmed each year in the course of their jobs to be a matter of true concern for us.)

One FSBO on CL went so far as to say absolutely no Realtors....an atty. hired by the seller for 1% will do all the paperwork for the buyer too.  Like that will serve the buyers best interests? Will the sellers atty. build in fees for the buyer? I wonder if the seller & his atty will disclose that the buyer is essentially unrepresented?  Or how long before the law suits start flying over misrepresentations, errors and ommissions?

Anyway, I see a trend here and I wonder where it will take us licensed professionals?  I think we might benefit from phoning our local title reps to see if they are seeing an increase in FSBO sales closed in escrow.  If not, then I see CL as a good resource for farming FSBO's. If so......?  Any thoughts from the rest of you?

As others have said, just post one or two a day or every couple of days.  If you repost the same listing be sure to delete the original post.  Our hits and leads have increased quite a bit due to CL... lots of tire kickers but that's okay because at least now they know about us!

Post only one per day, eh?  Hmm....

Tire kickers get to buy houses too :)

Remember the old joke...  "Waiter, do you serve crabs?"

Hmmm.... are you calling me a crab?  If so, be sure to use "old" before "crab".  And, that was my point regarding tire kickers, just in case you failed to understand it.

We have had postings removed from Nashville Craigs list.  The same house several times.  I finally* post contains link/URL to commercial service or web site emailed them and they gave me a pretty vague answer - but it did mention some possible reasons.  "* post contains link/URL to commercial service or web site"  seemed like the probable reason...

We gave up trying to keep up with caigslist postings in our area. They let the public police the listings, this is the primary flaw with their site. Todd is correct in saying some visitors to craigslist just may not like Realtors. I have had postings run for a couple of weeks, then the exact same posting be flagged down repeatedly.
