Cathy - you have opened my eyes! Now I can understand why some agents write as if they are selling something. They are - themselves to the general public. Lisa, I did a google search and did not find anything for me except my web site and my active rain. I guess I can still just say whatever is on my mind.

We do have to watch what we say. The public is always watching and they do search your name before they hire you.

 As a professional of any discipline you should always consider your behavior, as well as expressed thoughts and opinions, to be under public scrutiny. There is no client priveledge here. The rule of thumb that works for me is this, if what you have to say is not for all to hear, you should take steps to disseminate in more private venues.

One should *always* be careful with *anything* written on the internet.

There are things that agents discuss amongst themselves that we really don't want the public to read or hear. I didn't realize our posts were published outside this forum. I DO realize that anything said or written always has the potential to bite us in the butt, but I didn't know our posts were being disseminated (spelling?) to the public. I would think that would limit a lot of good open discussions and/or debates. I've seen agents here write as a "devil's advocate"; out of context their posts could be taken totally wrong by potential clients.

You are always on "stage". Jay warned everyone a couple of months ago to be careful when posting, all information is available and can and will be found no matter the context.

Jackie, I'm with you. The point 2 Blog is a great place to have open and honest dialog amoung professionals. It is not that I am ashamed of anything I said - but my audience is targeted to those in the business.

I belong to an SEO forum that's closed to the public. Anyone can join, but the posts are kept on the forum. It's not a place to sell your services or promote your site. It's a place to share information. The public really doesn't need to read strategies about how to get leads to sign buyer agency contracts, how to get price reductions, etc. It can hinder the free flow of ideas and eventually agents will be posting what they want the public to see as opposed to learning and sharing ideas.

I agree with you Gregory. It's not shame. It's just not the purpose of this forum.
