Striving for perfection and approval of peers

We all find ourselves looking to be perfect especially in our chosen field of profession. There are just some areas, that perfection is a must. Like knowing understanding the contracts we write for our buyers and how to nego a sellers contract, and the obligations they make, what has to be done to get the job closed, everything that pertains to the physical & mental thinking part of our daily jobs.

Trying to write a post that will be helpful and contribute to this blog in away that people will read . I look to this site as place that we can share ideas of how  to accomplish things in better way, or ideas to solve problems, a resource that could become invaluable.

So, how important does it become, that every word be perfect because of the fear of criticism.  Some people will not participate, but only read, because someone has stated, their perfection and the lack  of others out load. .

Posting blogs and topics for others to read, is time consuming and challenging to most, I would assume, I know it is for me. Not only does is set important information out there to the public and your peers, it also transfers your personality . Just trying to stay at the top of your game everyday, to produce the level of production to say "hey I can be in this business and be good at,! Can be a daily challenge for some"  This market is tough, and only the strong will survive.

I try to be perfect with my spelling, the way, I put the words together, but the time it takes,  lots of time and rereading and rewording, thinking, hey what is going to be said about it. My time is valuable, so is yours, I am sure. So how is it,  that someone  can be so absolute,  when you have misspellings. Yes there is spell check, I have forgotten to use it a couple of times , but really is that the most important thing to worry about.  We are sharing , we get in a hurry and opps! there's mistakes.

I don't mind the,  reminder  now and again , that , maybe I should make a change, or that the words or off. But let's not turn others off to what can be an awesome resource, because they fear what someone  might have to say and how they say it.

So if you are a reader, not a writer and have been putting off posting, because of the above mentioned things, PLEASE POST your thoughts now! do not let the fear keep your from sharing!!!!

My advice  Treat others, as you would like to be treated.

It's difficult to post when you've tried in the past and you feel your not accepted by the group.  That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the posts,  I do and I read them daily.  I've learned much and will continue to read and enjoy the bantering and fun that you all enjoy,   I just choose to not put myself in an uncomfortable situation.

Your advice Lisa to "Treat others, as you would like to be treated" is wonderful and it should work for all but unfortunately only works for some.

I sincerely hope that reading your post was more time consuming than writing it. For the time being, I would shelf the perfection idea and give "being succinct" a try.

I am not perfect, will never be perfect, and really don't try to reach perfection.  I try to communicate my thoughts, feelings, and advice that I have learned.  I can only hope that the reader will accept in the manner that I have "given" it.  And if they don't, that is their personal problem.  Please continue to post.  I enjoy reading and can overlook a misspelling quite easily!!

Phil R., still waiting for you to start a blog.

Lisa, it's not really about perfection but about contributing and participating in a positive way. Even critical comments are important and should be welcomed because it creates dialogue to further the idea. I too look forward to Phil's first post.

Sue, I love your little computer girl she is adorable but I am sad you feel the way you do.  I make mistakes all the time and some times I get posted twice because my computer sticks...but everyone has been kind to me, a few have joked around but I don't take it to heart and neither should you....remember you should never give up and I am so happy to see you in this blog so keep it up...no one is perfect except God.

EVERYONE -- You are beautiful, no matter what they say - words can't bring you down! (Xtina Aguilera)

We are all full of "perfect mistakes"  . . . perfection is an unattainable illusion.

There is a need to be authoritative in communications in our business, and that means kicking it up to a higher level. But I've repeated this F.Scott Fitz quote more than once and it holds true now:

"Don't worry about flies, don't worry about mosquitos, don't worry about insects in general. Don't worry about anyone getting ahead of you. Just consider "WHAT AM I AIMING AT?" "

The more you try for approval the less you get it. Just be the best YOU you can be and it will resonate with the right people for your development.

Blogging is advertising, whether you are passing along information and basically claiming to be the resident expert with that information or if you are eliciting responses by posting emotional issues. I tend to advertise at the local level.  Good luck with your quest for perfection.
