Promoting your area of home sales

By: Laurie Skinkle

I have started something new on my blog - or should I say VLOG.  I have become a videographer for the whole town!  I started with a video tour for one of my properties and got the idea that it would give our area a boost to have video shorts about what is going on in town.

It took a bit of a learning curve to figure it all out but - voila!

Check out my blog and let me know what you think.  As my colleagues I value your input.

Thanks in advance.

Like it.  What program are you using to do this.  I would think this would help you attract a great deal of visitors.

I use Windows movie maker to edit the video and YouTube to host the video.

It definately takes some time to do the video editing but you get faster the more times you do it.

I would like to really make it something that benefits the whole community.

Okay, first you cross your fingers and sprinkle some fairy dust...

it seemed that is what it took at first but I think I have it down to real instructions now!

Once you have your video uploaded to Youtube you copy the code for "embedded" not to link.

You write your blog to go with it and then click on the "Advanced Options" on the top right.  This will open more tabs at the top of your post.

Select "video" and paste the code from Youtube in the part that says URL

Somewhere in the code you will see the width and height of your video. Type those in the appropriate spots.

Now click publish.  When you view it the video will be underneath the written part.

Then you sprinkle the fairy dust!

Blogging Tips for Lu:

Write about stuff that you are passionate about and that you think would be interesting to others.  I personally am fascinated with statistics but the average person would rather eat glass. By the same token I don't want to know that you are going to hang out the laundry now or go pick up your kids. What I really mean is give the people something to chew on.  What is the neighbourhood really like, why do I want to live there?  What is in it for me? (The WIFIM is ALWAYS the reason people do things. Often they do things to feel good about themselves but that is their WIFIM).

What do you want to know about an area before you pick it?  Write about that and you can mix in stats somewhere too if you want.

People like visuals too.  Load in some pics or video.

Thanks Laurie, I agree, visuals of all kinds are very important. I'll get some dust tomorrow and get started, it's late now but thanks for sharing.

Thanks Cathy.  The Black & White Ball is held every year to raise money to upkeep and refurbish the Town Hall & Centre for the Arts.  I didn't mind donating my time to filming and editing the video at all.

It does create traffic and that is my WIFIM. It also promotes Warkworth and what promotes Warkworth promotes home sales. Another WIFIM.
