Google it! What you get?

A good way to find out how much internet presence you have is to do a search on yourself and real estate. Try your website without www or .com The more results you have, the better. Also try your "name" + real+estate or "name" + city. Sometimes the public look at these numbers when choosing an agent in an area they do not know anything about. It is an inexpensive way to advertise and create an image on future customers. Blogging, link partners, blasting, and ppc campaigns are good ways to increase these numbers. So google it! What you get?

But of course, Leo, that means nothing in regards to getting traffic or placement in the SEs.  No one who doesn't know me goes looking for Ron Tarvin Real Estate.  If they know me, they probably have a pretty good idea how to find my site.

It's good to know how many pages you are found for though...although it isn't all that accurate.

For a Google term, "Ron Tarvin" Real Estate it returns 3,670 items that may or may not all be related to ME.  The most interesting one was :

http://www.journaldelagence.com/annuaire/Regional/North_America/United_States/Texas/Localities/K/Katy/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/

and it's not in English!  My site is there along with what appears to be MOST if not all the other agents in the area!

You are my hero Ron! I am not joking, but before I started the blog I did search your name among others in this forum. You have pretty good numbers.

My broker asked me the other why I was getting some much traffic on my website. He is paying almost $400 a month to have the company's site on top of Yahoo for certain keywords. When we did a search on his domain "lawtonexit" all we got was 2 results. No wonder there is no traffic, there has to be some connection between the results and the traffic... my thinking is: the more, the better!

The right margin on the comments (not the original post) seems to be a problem, but I think I get the gist of what you both wrote.

I did a search on myself when I first began paying attention to my site (Mid-February).  Got nuthin'.

Since then, I've become obsessed.  Upgraded to Professional, testing Google Adwords, working on content...my goal is one page per day....not always met but I at least do something.  Learning here, message boards, AR, RET, etc.

I just Googled myself again.  13 results and I'm in all of them.  One amusing result though.....Did you know I sell real estate in Dubai?  Really!  My web address comes up on some unknown website with Dubai listings.  India, too. Obviously a market yet to be tapped!

My hits thru P2, google, craigslist, etc. have jumped much higher than I expected.  A few good leads although I don't require registration yet.  Just trying to drive traffic there.  Seems to be working.  Ultra Stats very helpful.  Trying to work with Google on Analyticals.....don't yet "get it".

One thing....if anyone is working with AdSense.  Did you know that your "impressions" are shown only in your own state unless you specify otherwise?  I didn't.  Being a summer destination, MA is OK, but we draw a lot of traffic from all the mid-Atlantic states and north.  I change my area to all of those states too and doubled 4 days worth of clicks in 12 hours. I could just be naive, but I thought I'd pass that along to all, especially those of us who are relatively new to the playground.  Learn from mistakes, folks!

Another thing I've learned from AdSense.  Most people don't think of my area by "town", only as "Cape Cod".  We need to think about "how" people find us and focus!

Gettin' there!
