People Still Matter Most

I too get caught up in this whirl of technology. At the end of the day people matter most. It is our relationships with our family, friends, co-workers, other agents and clients that are most important. 85% of our clients choose to work with a realtor because of who the realtor is as a person - it is not just what they have to offer. Yes  roughly 15% the sellers are looking for who will do the most for them at the lowest cost. These people are looking for a deal and that number is growing exponentially day by day.

They say character is what you do when noone is looking. I know that many of you go above and beyond on a daily basis and if someone notices you say it is no big deal. It is a big deal and my fellow realtors you are special. Let people know how you "pay if forward".

Michelle,

You are so right! Technology is great but it does not replace personal contact.  I love the fact that many of my clients, previously strangers, are now my friends.

I set yesterday aside to call all prospects, past clients, friends I hadn't spoken with in a while, etc. and a funny thing happened!  Two "cold" leads that were fed to me by Re/Max.com became very hot.  Seems they had signed onto several other websites, as well, but I was the only one who emailed and then followed up with a phone call!  I was also able to catch up with old and newer friends, got three invitations, and felt like a million bucks by the end of the day!

Make the phone call, stop by, make some personal contact.  I consider yesterday to be my most productive day in quite some time.

Great Post!

Cathy

Michelle,

Technology has made our life easier (maybe, jury is still out at times on that one), but all it has done is allow us the opportunity to reach out to the masses in a more effective way. It still takes the one on one prospecting to turn that potential buyer/seller into a client. IT IS still about the people. I feel this more because I live in a small town and people KNOW your character, they see me in the stores, the bank, the post office, everywhere. They see what I do for the city (I am on our city council) and they know whether you care about their interests or your own.

I run into alot of agents who are movers and shakers but they leave a bad impression when it comes to working one on one with people. I know because I have been called in to do damage control.

Thanks for the reminder or maybe an education for those who have not figured it out yet.

Technologhy can be great in helping you make the initial contact with a potential client that does not know you.

After that it all comes down to a personal relationship.
