Sleep on it?

My first reaction to see the advertising of the new HGTV show, "Sleep On It", was a sarcastic, "oh great".

I had to watch. I have watched only one and of course, they spent the night in the house of their possible dreams and changed their mind. This is all we need with a current bout of "fence sitters" to have yet another day to decide.

Commit people. Look at the house, see if it has a freeway nearby, spiders, ants, neighbors. Drive through the neighborhood, do some homework for crying out loud. Remember you can't pick your neighbors, they come with the house, but they could possibly move someday. It's possible.

Take all the time you want, make an informed decision. Then sleep on it. But I guarantee you, none of my sellers will let you spend the night in their house before you decide. You wouldn't do that either if you were selling. It makes a great tv show, but it is not reality in my neck of the woods.

Now, fence sitters, the fences are coming down. IAWTP

That has so much liability involved, I can't believe they would do this.

I watched one episode as well!!  I couldn't believe them jumping on the bed.. ewwwww  I don't want you "trying" out my bed, thank you very much...  take it to a hotel.

Nope, this isn't going to happen in my neck of the woods either.

Shelly

p.s. the one I watched the couple did decide to put an offer in one of the houses.

Okay, I love HGTV, watch them all.

But... because of it, we have to deal with first time homebuyers who's unrealistic expectations put in their heads by some Hollywood person's idea of how things should be... they want to buy a home with 3000 sq ft WITH a garage, and WITH a nice lot and it HAS to have an "open concept" with stainless steel appliances  and god forbid if it doesn't have granite countertops and a master bath complete with tuscany tiled shower with multiple rainshower heads and a soaking tub with JETS...and it can't be over 225K.

So now they are going to expect that they can sleep in the house to try it out too?

Help me.  Spare me.

Hey Cindy, don't shoot the messenger. lol. I agree, this just goes on top of the already unrealistic list. Alas, our job is still to inform the public no matter what the tv tells them.

Are you crazy!  It can't be over $150K.  I can't imagine any Seller allowing a potential Buyer to stay in a house.  Who in the world was their agent.  I haven't been watching these shows.  Going to have to Tivo them.

Hey...a wine cellar is a must too! If buyers can't sleep over one night, can they have a wine drinking party in the cellar? LOL! I would join the fun for sure, just no guns allowed.  :)

And on 5 acres with a sweeping view of the mountains that you can view from the hot tub on the back deck in my neck of the woods!  Good grief...I like HGTV too, but they must be running out of format ideas.

The wine sounds great!  Good thread Mary, and nice to meet all of you.

Cindy, of course you will split a bottle of wine with me, you probably know I don't drink, that would work out fine for you, now wouldn't it? lol.

Now lets, all duck the bullets and watch Sell This House on A & E.

Nice to meet you too Cheryl.
