Speaking of changes... BIG CHANGES ARE HAPPENING for me with a career change.
You already know I enjoy selling real estate, as well as working at coaching, web development, and online marketing. Actually, web development and online marketing were my first loves. Before I got my license, I helped agents with internet, and graphic services.
I will now be doing even more of those things in a new job that has come my way. Several references here at RElib lately mention something about Cable Companies hiring... Somebody has a good grapevine! It's true enough, even if a bittersweet moment. It is definitely a God thing, I have been invited to take a new job at a cable TV, broadband Internet, and web services company.
My new job will be to serve Realtors and help them succeed. I will be working as a provider of online marketing services, developing a market leading web service, and coaching Realtors in the use of video and multi-media technology to sell more houses. I love emerging fields that bring technology to existing situations and lower the cost of doing business. Television is a very powerful medium that has been far too expensive for Realtors to use effectively, until now!
A few days ago, I wrote 200 of my best friends and clients. I thanked them for their support, told them it has been fun, that it was a pleasure to serve, that I treasured their business and referrals, and that a career change was in the offing. I assured them I was not going under but was moving up!
Even though our Toledo market is probably the worst in 20 years, I leave active selling with 5 deals pending on the table. Online Lead generation allowed me to sucessfully refer 3 listings and half a dozen serious buyers to other agents in the office in the last week or so. One of them wrote and had an offer accepted already! After only 4 years in the business, my sales performance ranks in the top 100 agents in a city of 2500 agents, according to our latest Million Dollar Club report. After selling almost $4MM last year, and having the best first half ever in 2007 - I was doing fine.
But this is better. I think it is a safe assessment to say my time on the front lines in Real Estate has prepared me to do an even better job than ever in providing marketing services to other agents.
No worries mate.... It's not the end of the world... I will have a license in some form or another for the forseeable future, and will still be around... I will continue to coach and offer SEO and Web Marketing Services = But probably won't be a RE/MAX Agent, since it pretty well takes a full time commitment to cover those franchise fees.
That's my BIG NEWS... Please wish me well. I will do the same for you!
