Many of you know I took a position last fall helping other agents sell homes.  After 6 months of work, my cable channel is ready to launch...  It's not self promotion because I don't want you to buy anything...  I just wanted to update my friends here.  You may be seeing more services like this around the USA in the coming year.  Will keep you posted as to how the public responds.  In a YOUTUBE and BIGSCREEN Generation, we expect that this will go over pretty big.  Check out the Channel 13 news story to see the great press we got locally!

Lonn, I looked at your news clip and I am just curious as to what is different about this Chanel and the Real Estate Chanel's that have been on cable in my area for as long as I can remember. What is the new part?

I thought this was going to be a new concept but I am missing the new part.

Hi Gary:

Do you have a 24-hour real estate channel in your market?  Does the show include 6 photos with music bed AND professional narration?  Can any agent get on or just the agents of the sponsoring company?  Does a listing placed on TV automatically get on the most advertised real estate web site in town?  And can it all be done for $11 a week or less?

Around here we did not have a real estate channel - in the past - but we did have real estate shows instead.  A Real estate show used to be a half hour or hour of listings by one company only (the brokerage who made the show).  There were typically one or two still photos at the most.  The show would be on maybe once or twice a week - usually on sunday.

We now offer a 24 hour channel, with listings by any brokerage, and a companion web site, at an unheard of low price.  Around here, this is new!

Yes Lonn we have had the 24 hour channel here for as long as my old mind goes back. It is a cut above printed since there is sound to go along with the pictures. Any Realtor can purchase time on it for their listings. The draw back is a potential client would have to be watching when your area came up and sit through all the other listings to see your 15-30 second clip. Unlike the web that allows instant access to only the properties they are interested in. Figure out how to make it interactive and you really have something.

Lonn as a side note, I don't want to seem critical of this endeavor because although I am not a big fan of the all night channel, I feel it serves a purpose and actually works for some. I wish you luck in this new endeavor and hope that the Toledo/Mich market booms. It is more people that will move to Florida! The web site associated with the view may not be present here in Fort Myers and may be a great add on. 24 hour promotion of any web has got to increase flow!

Hi Gary:  Thanks for the feedback.  And for the best wishes.

Yes, sound and motion are a cut above print!  Television is powerful or it would not be the choice of big companies for advertising.

The web tie-in is huge.  Essentially, our TV show - which has merit on it's own, is also a 24 hour commercial for our web site...  Realtor.com can eat it's heart out... (too bad it is so hard to use).  Not even RE/MAX can afford as much TV!  Think about that for a minute.

Curious - what does it cost to be on that TV Channel in your area?  Ours is only $20 a week or $249 for the life of the listing.

BTW: About having to wait for your area to come on Tv...  Our viewers really don't have to wait much...  Our ads are organized by area, and the each area has a half hour show that is available several times a day on the regular channel.  But each show is also available "whenever you want" as a VOD or Video On Demand selection.  It's sort of like ordering a movie from your cable company... only it is free.

Anyway, yes if our market recovers it will create buyers for your market - so ya'wll keep thinking good thoughts and sending them our way - ya heeaa !  : )
