When I first got into residential real estate here in Portland, Oregon, I was expecting to interact with a bunch of snobby individuals and catty attitudes. What I found was quite the contrary.
To this day, with a rare exception, the agents, principle brokers, escrow officers, inspectors and lenders I work with are kind, polite, accommodating, and understanding. It continues to validate my choice in professional direction.
Personally, as I'm sure most do, I try my best to take the "Golden Rule" approach, treating all as I would like to be treated. I do find occasions where I may react to an agent's bad behavior with less "Gold" and more "Vinegar", but again, it's a rarity. And I think that when I do run into someone that could use a refresher course in Manners 101, that experience with them just makes me a better agent. Maybe even a better person.
From time to time, I try to remind myself of my good fortune to work with a very large group of folks (over 7,000+ here in Portland Metro) who, almost to a person, are supportive of me, my clients and my business.
