Question:  Do you fly our flag on these holidays?  I do and I'm the only one in my neighborhood that does.  Is it passé'?

Without asking I know of several RElibbers that I'd bet the farm fly a flag on holidays like Memorial Day, 4th of July and Veterans Day.   What about the rest of you?

If not, why not?

Have a safe weekend.   Gentlemen, start your engines!!!!

Always. Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, Sept 11, July 4, heck I even fly it on Flag Day.

In fact, a local Boy Scout troop here will place a full size flag in your yard in the early morning of such holidays, and take it down in the evening. I think the cost was a $25 donation -- that's a heck of a deal, they even supply the flag.

Yet I'm the only one on my street that took advantage of it.

I don't get it.

Mine's flying Tall and Proud.  We're pretty much a Military Town, though.  Lots of Veterans and we try to honor them at all times.

I was very pleased to see one of our "main drags" (we only have three) decorated in Red, White & Blue along with a TON of yellow ribbons.

I don't fly it too much in winter because of weather, but beginning Memorial Day?  You bet you're sweet bippy! I put it out every morning and my son or daughter takes it in every evening, with great respect and reverence for Flag Protocol.

Hey, I fly my flag year round.  Even installed a spot light so I can leave it up at night.  I have to replace it every year but that is just fine with me.  I still get goose bumps every time I come home late at night and see that flag flying.

I am eternally grateful for all the service men and women who defend my right to live in this great country.

May all of you have a memorable Memorial Day!!!

Any pray for our troops.  My daughter is in IRAQ and I haven't heard from her for a while.

Hey Cathy!  You are SO right!   I was quoting the "historical" but not current or PC.   I think now they say, "Drivers, start your engines."

Then they wait while Danica Patrick runs to the restroom one last time...

JUST KIDDING, CATHY!!!!  You know the OLD joke; Why do the Indy car races always go in a circle?  'Cause the guys won't ask for directions!

Yes, always.

Jay - That's a good deal. I wonder why others don't take advantage of it.

Randy - We'll pray for your daughter.

We've got a pretty nice flag pole at the entrance to the neighborhood I'm guessing it is in the 22-25 ft range.   I and most of my neighbors fly the flag on holidays, a few folks fly it all day and all night all the time.  Victory Drive in Columbus,  about 6 miles of road, has hundreds of flags flying on all holidays. When the wind picks up it is a beautiful sight.  This is an Army town with thousands of retired veterans who don't need a reason to wave the flag.

Wow, that's great, Klaus.  I miss that, especially on the holidays.  I think much of this country could benefit from a little patriotism.

Randy; Best wishes to you, your family and your daughter.

Phil - I fly my flag 365 days a year. I put it out in the morning and down at night. I wanted to put in a flag pole and illuminate it so I could fly it 24 hours a day but one of my neighbors complains about the street light bothering him so I decided not to put the pole up. We do have a good amount of people on my steeet that fly their flag on holidays.

Last year just before the 4th of July a local Realtor droped off flags at every home on my street. I am sure she spent over $400 just on my street and I am not sure how many of my gated community received one but I wish I had thought of it. She currently has three listings on my street and I have none! Smart and Patriotic, a tough combination to beat but you have to admire her!

Phil, Thanks, but I think you probably know I'm not all too concerned with "PC".  And I'm reaaaalllly hard to offend! All in fun, with malice toward none!

I just loved the fact that there were 3 women drivers!  My daughter, and son, were pretty impressed.  I think my son may have been giving lip service because he was talking with his "unofficial" girlfriend.

Fly them Flags!  And Bless Our Troops.

I live in a small condominium building. We have 2 wall mount flag poles, one at each end of the building proudly wavering on 365 days.

Last month, one of the flags began to fray at the end.  So our boad President decided we shall replace them both.   He appointed me to shop for flags.  "Sure" I said without hesitation.

I first go online to see that what is available for top quality at the best price.  To my bewilderment I see "IMPORTED U.S. FLAGS."   WOW! I thought - impoeterd?  How could this most sacred symbolic American value be fabricated elsewhere than in the U.S.A.?

Now I have an idea about this war we are in.  Since, obviously, we don't have any pride where we manufacture our very own symbolism, then, likewise, why don't we hire out cheaply paid foreign men and women to go fight for us, instead?  I am sure that would save our country trillions of dollars and, surely, it would spare our own men and women from being killed.

John, www.flagstoreusa.com claims they are made in America. I am sure there are alot of imports, hopefully this company really makes them here.

While on my run today on the WO&D trail, I saw a big American flag flying high above the DC beltway. A local resident mounted it to the chain link fencing that encloses the trail flyover. It was pretty cool to see it there.
