Kids will be in school!!!!

Do any of you Realtors see the "Call to Action" that we often experience here in the northwest once school is about to begin?  (*For us here in Portland, Oregon, most schools start next week!)

Or is the urgency to move/secure a new home over by then in your area of the country?

I often work with great clients that have waited, usually due to other issues, and now need to move quickly to get their children registered in the school(s) of the "new" neighborhood.

It's never too late!!!!

Comments from the Realtors abroad?

Traditional school starts here next week also.  You can almost cut the excitement with a knife.  Not the kids it is the parents.  I have noticed a little quicker step.  People are actually smiling at each other in the school supply section of the local Walmart.  I know what will happen next week (and yes my excitement is building too).  The phone will start ringing again.  Summer is over with our last hurrah is this weekend (do open houses Sunday, or buy a new car, everyone will be BBQing Monday).  Vacations are over.  The parents can take a deep breath and realize they only have two and one half months left before Thanksgiving to find, close and move!  Sign up for floor time in Sept!  They are coming!

Hi Phil,

I am still waiting for the summer market to start in my area.  Hopefully the market will pick up going into the fall season.  There is usually a second season that starts next week that runs throught the end of october.

Agreed.  I just talked to all my sellers and told them, don't expect much between now and through Labor Day as folks are squeezing the last of the summer out and getting ready for school.  But we should see a nice push from Sep. through Oct. as folks want to be in thier new home before the holidays.  I'm hopeful : )

Our schools started last week. The entire summer people are trying to relocate before school starts up again. And we always get a few new teachers relocating before as the poor teachers have to start earlier.

School started yesterday here.  Woo Hoo!

While the summer market is usually pretty active, the Fall can become very hectic.  I hope that holds true this year.

Yes, I have seen the urgency in the past, working another market. Here I expect to be busy now that school started Monday. Good luck Phil with the last minute folks.

our school started on Monday. Based on past experience, the market should pick up a bit sometime next week and should be decent until even as late as just before Christmas if the weather doesn't dump a foot of snow on us in October ... though, snow is not as bad as icy winds ... so, please, no icy winds this year ... we need a decent market! I do hope the tradition will come alive again and the market will really pick up!

School's been in session here since first week of August. Sad for the kids but GREAT for the biz. Picks up almost immediately from that point, monsoon or no.

Our kids have already been in school long enought to have a "Teacher's Work Day" today. (I've never understood the thought behind sending kids to school in August in Phoenix... You should see the little tykes on the playground when it's 115 outside. Of course, given that "summer" is 8 months long here, I guess there's no other time.)

Our "busy" time is June/July (though we blew through that this year). Land sales pick up (usually) when it cools off. Jeeping my fingers crossed...
