Whether the Weather....?

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we are just

beginning our 6 months of wet weather.  Most who have lived here more than 2 years just ignore it and do mostly what they want outside; drive, shop, hike, golf, etc.   And I don't see a slow down in home viewings, personally.

But, I am curious whether the weather affects the showing and sales of other agents?

Same here Shelly.  When we get a snowstorm in J-ville everything comes to a dead halt.  Hmmmm.... I just realized we haven't had a snowstorm in the last few years - must be that global warming thing.

Neither sleet, nor snow, nor freezing rain.......up here nice weather can actually slow things down.  Unless they are specifically visiting to look for homes, most of our tourists would rather spend the day at the beach or on the boat.  A rainy day?  Nothing else to do? Let's look at houses!

Snow, what is snow?  LOL!

But O YEAH, weather plays a role for us . . . you better believe that 125+ degree temps will affect showings! And the times we perform those type tasks.

Rainy days can bring out the lookies here too, but typically that is pretty rare.

If the weather is gorgeous, and we have 8 months a year of pretty darn gorgeous weather (70s and 80s), people are buzzing around like little bees, moving, buying, renting.

When it's very windy, which we get periodically, that will grind action to a halt.

This summer I was showing property in flash floods...and it did. I just hate it when that happens. We made it back to the office, clients left, I was stuck at the office answering phones....people asking if it was raining. Duh

The weather here is just beautiful Phil.  How about flying over and skydiving in.  The temperature is 79 and dry.  The leaves are just begining to turn colors and it is fantastic.  Showings are going great on my listings and I have 5 buyers that I am working with.  My favorite time of year and show houses. I have two closings line up for November and expecting more.  Life is good.

Love the picture Phil. Snow doesn't bother us, it isn't like we can slip and slide off a mountain or anything. Very hot weather bothers me but I will sell anytime I can. We are in the low 70's with a slight breeze. I love it!!

When it snows in Seattle area, everything stops.  Even as far north as we are, we don't get a lot of snow.  All of the snow plows are reserved for the Cascade Mountains so when it does snow here it takes a while to get everything cleaned up.  Fortunately, there are lots and lots of hilly streets to take advantage of with an innertube or saucer sled!  Might as well, no one is going to be looking at any houses.

I'd love to hear from Norm Fisher on this one.  Up where he and I live, there ain't much that gets slowed down by weather.

Public schools here have been closed on account of weather precisely one full day in the past thirty years.  Total.  The last time that happened, it was somewhere around -48 degrees with 80km/hr blowing snow.

My agent has taken me on showings when it was thirty-five below and thought nothing of it.

That said, given the harsh winters here, I wonder if we experience more seasonal fluctuation than most?
