Here's the full speech that Angie Adams, 2 posts below, used in her blog.

http://tinyurl.com/62nrwe

Perhaps she intended to give credit to Ulla Schmidt, the German Federal Minister of Health, but forgot.  Earlier, I very kindly, pointed this out to Angie by commenting, but she deleted my comment and blocked her post from any further comments.

Most of you folks know me, I know.... I'm a stickler for crediting authors.   It's the way that I would hope to be treated with any blogs I write.  It's a lot of work to write, and this speech has been used by Ms. Schmidt for several years.

I am sure Angie forgot the link too Phil.

What I found interesting in the speech was the mention of the United States.  Did I miss something?  We don't have national health care yet, do we?  Or are our county health clinics, medicare and some of the different state programs for the poor, looked at as the same thing by other countries?

Phil, Keep doing your thing, keep doing your thing.

It's interesting she says "Regardless of how comprehensive any health care system might be, as a normal citizen you will always feel it’s not quite enough."

I couldn't agree more. It seems Health Care costs continues to rise while service and treatment options continue to fall. I don't know what the solution is, but it's just another issue placing a burden on us.

I am not sure I would start any comments speaking to the Health care issue with the mention of a bedside divorce to avoid paying the hospital bills. That may actually add to the reason we have some of the problems we do! Not that I am not sure I wouldn't do the same thing!

Desperate people do desperate acts Gary.  But I think this may have been a bit extreme.  Some of the policies of our medicare and in CA medical for reimbursement once the patient passes is just down right cruel.

Jana if I apply your logic than I guess if I need money that anything is OK? Laws can be broken, rules can be changed. Who ends up paying the bill? Me and the rest of the paying health care people. I guess that you feel that is fair. If not, than you can not possibly condone such action. The system may be flawed but that doesn't mean you are allowed to abuse it because you will be ill effected. Fix the system and don't become the abuser. That certainly doesn't help.

Phil, I too tried to post a comment and found my remarks blocked. Oh, well. I really wanted to point out to Angie one of the reasons Europe was able to afford a health care plan is because the USA paid for the national defense. One can argue the points and dollars but in my view that is primary reason.

Of course, if there was NO insurance companies we could all afford to pay the same low rates they pay. If you are sick and go to the hospital the bill maybe $10,000. The insurance company pays them $2500 and calls it paid. If we could pay that amount to begin with, we wouldn't need an insurance company. It is one of the only businesses that continue to profit no matter what. They now own the heath care business thanks to lobbying in Washington.

Here in New Jersey, the politicans just passed a Family Leave bill that will add to our debt while just weeks prior they closed the State Parks that invite and encourage tourism. We are being led my idiots. And, I guess that makes me fully retarded.

Now, Phil aren't you sorry you didn't block this rant?

Hi Angie.

To check your setting for comments, click on "Control Panel", which is near the top on every page.

Then in "My Blog", choose, "Manage (insert your blog's name here)"

Then "Global Settings"

Then Advanced Post Settings"

At this page, there's a setting:  "Allow Comments..."   Make sure it says "Yes".

That's the best I can do.  I know, it's a bunch of steps!

Also, if you want to edit your original post to include your comment that some of the text was borrowed from someone else, you can do that in "Control Panel", also.  Just click and select "Manage...", then select your article, make your edits and publish it.   And you can remove your "I'm guilty" comment.   Honestly, I was not trying to snap at you.  We all should operate above-board and name our sources.  It's the fair thing to do, and I'm sure that's the road you want to take also.

Gregory,  I think you are right about our defense subsidy of Europe.  When we finally withdraw from there, I think they will have to face the music.  We subsidize many countries and I think it is time we began to retire the lion share of the support.

As for health care industry, it is a complicated issue.  I personally think that everyone should be responsible for their own, however it is naieve to think that,  as a large portion of the population doesn't take responsibility.

I don't believe in Health Insurance either, what a SCAM.  It is Insurance, after all,  goes without saying.

Aww Gary you know me better than that.  Two wrongs have never made a right.  But if people are doing such things as divorcing a spouse so that person is not strapped with bills, they can not afford, something is wrong with the system!
