The Tomato Speaks! You Should Listen!

If you read real estate blogs with any regularity, you know Jim Cronin of The Real Estate Tomato. The Tomato has long been a favorite stop of mine (and many others).

Today I had the pleasure of listening to Jim espouse on lots of things related to blogging. He was on a Point2 Agent "Coaching Call". On the call Jim freely shared his wisdom in all things blogging. He's an engaging speaker, and seems to be an all around nice guy. Not to mention he knows of what he speaks. If you are a Point2 Agent member and even remotely curious about real estate blogging, you should be smacking yourself in the head if you missed this call. The good news is Jim all but publicly promised to return for more sessions. I for one plan to hold him to that promise....

Note to all P2'ers out there. This was only the second Coaching Call I've attended. The other was a Michael Russer call. Both of these calls were outstanding. If you are not taking advantage of these calls, you should be!

Now I've been doing this blogging thing for awhile, so I have to admit that I didn't learn a lot of new stuff. But for the intended target of new and relatively new bloggers, this call was a "must hear". It was good however, for me to hear Jim reiterate the need to focus, and determine what you want out of a blog. It's no secret to any semi-regular reader of my blog,  The Phoenix Real Estate Guy, that it wanders all over creation. Personally, I kinda like it that way, despite the fact that it probably drives some people nuts. But it's not ideal for "blog marketing" myself and my lovely bride's real estate services. I also never really thought about my "blog uniform" -- how you dress your blog (sidebars and whatnot) and how that can impact your SEO. Enlightening stuff! Like Jim, I don't give blog SEO much conscious thought. It just works. But it could work better with a bit of thought...

Jay - You're right, it was a very informative session. Much of it was famaliar since I've been reading "how to" blog postings for sometime now. I realized today what I really need are coaching or mentoring sessions on how to technically work on my P2 blog. It's probably all available for me to read and figure out, but to tell you the truth I'm a bit burnt in terms of teaching myself technology. I'm ready to take the easy route. I'd like someone to talk me through it.

I checked out the copyblogging.com site that Jim recommended. It's excellent. It's not often I wish I was younger but every once in a while, like today, I wish I had a 20 year old brain to help process the avalance of interesting information that keeps leading me astray. It must be Friday!!!

I just wish I could read the Tomato blog. For some reason, half of the text is blocked. I'm not smart enough to figure out what is wrong. Am I the only one with this problem?

I have tried to make the few p2a calls, but I keep getting pulled away. It seems Jim has a good thing going at his blog. I just can't read all the text.

Jay is right, it was an excellent session. I have visited the Real Estate Tomato before, and it was such a treat to hear the Head Tomato hold forth. Those of you with an interest in blogging, keep an eye out for the next session (and watch for this one to show up in the archives).

I am much newer at this than Jay, and I did learn some interesting things. Jim Cronin (Tomato)'s illustration of the "Blog Army" really laid things out for me. YOU will have to visit his site (via the links above)!

I'm just starting to get the nerve up for blogging and the real estate tomato has great!!!! information.  Thank you!

Hey Jay or anyone else who would like to give an opinion:

What did you think of the Michael Russer call.  I am thinking of getting his DVD.  I am doing pretty well with my website and the rating, but I want to get something that I can sit down and really learn how to get higher placement etc.

Thank you in advance for any comments/
