Great article here that anyone running a blog *really* ought to read...

Many of these laws apply to regular websites as well -- so EVERYONE here should read this!

The 12 Laws cover the following:

Whether to disclose paid posts

Is deep linking legal

The legal use of images and thumbnails (pertains to regular sites as well!)

Laws that protect you from stolen content (Happens on blogs and standard sites)

Domain name trademark issues (a LOT of real estate websites violate this one...)

Handling private data about your readers (would hold true for website generated prospect lists...)

Who owns user-developed content and can you delete it

Duty to monitor your blog comments, and liability

Basic tax law issues in blogging

Limited liability laws and incorporating

Spam laws and which unsolicited emails are legal

Are blogger protected from journalism shield laws

What I have been doing is going to a site taking pictures and posting a blog.  I asked permission to interview the owner of a company here and told him this with his picture would be on the blog.  He was elated.  Do I need to have them sign a release?

Thanks for bringing this article to our attention Jay. I hadn't considered some of these issues, especially deep links. I'm going to have to review mine to make sure authorship is clear (though I rarely link to others except for public info sites, I hadn't thought about unintentional misleading).
