Tragedy in the Real Estate Blog World

A very sad thing happened yesterday. Aaron Anglin, 24, was killed in an automobile accident. He leaves behind his wife and two daughters, age six weeks and one year.

Aaron was the brother of Lani Anglin, a very popular real estate blogger out of Austin, and one of my true "cyper pals". He had just "starred" days before in a real estate video spoof that was spreading across the Internet.

I hate asking people for money, but if there is anything you can do, even a dollar, there is a donation link set up on my blog. They had no life insurance, and Aaron's wife and both his daughters were in the car when he was killed (they are going to be OK, but there will be medical and funeral expenses).

My blog post about it:

Tragedy Begets Triumph: Why I Love this Community

Life is short. Live every day with gusto. And to the people you love, tell them so every day.

So sorry to hear, Jay. Went to read the blogs and so true . . . we are all on borrowed time. Sent you some $ to help the family. My deepest condolences.

Jay I did not know Aaron nor have I read any of Lani's blogs until today. You see I am not as well versed in the blogging world as you. I am however very touched by the response that I read today and also very much saddened by the loss of such a young life. I read the blog about his sister and the wife and two infants that he left behind. I am sure there is some sort of divine plan and this all makes sense but it is hard for me to comprehend. The reality is that a young widow with two babies is now faced with the challenge of coping with medical bills, funeral expenses and the grief of her loss.

It is easy to understand the grief and sadness that she faces and hopefully we can do something more to ease this burden. This is not the best time for Realtors with the present market, however I believe that what you give out of kindness will come back to you ten fold. I can think of no kinder act than to help a widow with two babies in her time of need.

Money will not cure her pain but it will lesson her burden. Who amongst us would not want that? So I hope that all that read these post will say, you know I can afford a little something and all those little somethings will help this poor lady. But for the grace of God there go I.

Thanks Gary, you have a wonderful way with words.

I don't possess the vocabulary to express my feelings. I just got off the phone with Lani's husband Benn, and they are overwhelmed with gratitude for the support that's been shown.

And thanks to Craig, Michaela, Bill and Candice as well as all the others that have read this and thought of this poor family. I'll be sure to pass on your condolences. I know they will find it comforting.

If folks read nothing, read the two most recent posts on Lani's blog, and the outpouring of support in the comments.
