I want to launch other websites..need advice.

I currently have one website very specific to the area I do most of my business in.  I have several domain names registered and I would like to add sites specific to those niches or areas- three in all.  I won't be doing them all at once but eventually I would like to add them all. I don't want to point them all to my current site because that won't help with the SEO for those domains.  However, they will have some common content and I am not sure what it the best way (not to mention most cost efficient) to go about it. Does Point 2 charge seperately for each site no matter how many you have with them?  I would greatly appreciate some guidence. Thanks

I have about six sites which I created myself using pre-built templates I extensively modify.  I have a bulk hosting account so it costs very little to maintain these sites.

I put one site up on Point2 because I liked some of the rich-content and features, which would be difficult and time consuming for me to create on my own.  The $40/month charge is worth it because I can link to some of the features from my other sites.

That said, I created another Point2 site for a builder I work with, mainly because it was quick.  I asked Point2 if there is a discount for multiple sites and they said no, so I plan to create a separate builder's site with my own template and save the extra $40 fee.  I would have used their "free" site but I wanted to customize the header.

Point2 is missing the boat by not offering a multi-site discount.

Stephanie,

You can build pages in your Point2 site specific to each area (or domain) and have those domains forwarded to that page within your point2 site.  Is that what you mean?

Example: This page is for Orange Park, FL:

http://www.jacksonvillehomeinfo.net/Orange_Park/page_1782935.html

I use Godaddy to host some free sites:

http://www.homesforsaleinjacksonvilleflorida.com/

http://www.jacksonville-florida-real-estate.net/

etc......

I too have about 5 sites. 1 I consider primary and the others are my "stealth" sites.  Sites I don't really try to sell myself on, but I use to capture leads.  Using the Broker site on point2agent I am able to create ALL websites.  I have the domains "point" to my main address, but are framed in and only show the stealth site address in the browser address bar.

You can get an "unlimited domains" account from many hosting companies, complete with a "site studio" template based site builder and manage content, uploaded files, images, and email addresses using a control panel called HSPHERE,

This strategy lets you make all the doorway sites or stealth sites you want.

I have several sites also, hosted elsewhere. Point2 is my favorite site, but I can host a large number of sites less expensively than upgrading to Broker. I supposethat there are other advantages to upgrading and centralizing, but it I am a little skitterish about having "all my eggs in one basket".

I also have several domains and in talking with tech support they advise me to create a new page in the p2 site for each of them and point them back to the default home page. By doing this the rich data from the p2 site will show up in the new page address. I am working on this now to see if it will in fact make placements and new searches in other areas.  Just an inexpensive way to use those domains.

Thank you all for your input.  Are there any sites or templates that you could recommend?  Lonn, I really like what you have done.  Is it hard to manage all of those sites or do you have someone that does the work for you?  Do any of you recommend the free sites-Standard- for creating a few sites?  I appreciate the guidence!

My brother and I maintain 6 websites and we don't recommend the free websites. There are plenty of companies that you can use for templates if you want a few things to do. Check out www.4templates.com for a bunch of low cost templates. Then get a person to help you with a few things or do it yourself.
