Glasgow, London, Terrorism...I'm Back Home!

Wow, things got a little too interesting in Scotland the past few days! I arrived back home here yesterday, July 3rd. I had to go through both Glasgow and London airports but everything went extremely well. I arrived in Glasgow airport Monday, July 2nd just after the Saturday car bomb attach. I was very impressed with the attitude of the people of Scotland and England. They resolved that terrorists will not interfere with their way of life, to allow them to do so would be to allow them to accomplish what they desire. Security was extremely high in both airports, however, things moved right along and everyone I came in contact with had a strong, positive attitude. London has dealt with terrorism for years and years with the IRA but this is the first attack in Scotland. They all handled it in a great, strong way. We could learn from their example, in my opinion.

It is good to be back in the good ol’ USA and the 4th of July celebrations will be a little more special today.

Welcome Home, Bill!  Glad you made it out unscathed.  We've had several flights to and from London and Glasgow cancelled at Logan.  Looking forward to the pics!

Good to know you are back. Did you invest in some property we can all time share in while you were there?

Glad you made it back Bill,

I was wondering if the Airports you went through had armed guards as part of the security ? I found it very interesting that in quite a few other countries they do have people stationed at various points that are armed and watching out for anything out of the norm.

Of course this would not fly here because it could possibly inconvenience us further and we all know as Americans we can't have that. The folks in these other countries that have had to deal with these attacks have IMO learned that it is better to keep upbeat and positive about delays and inconveniences than to gripe and force things back to easier and quicker, Opening the same doors as before for these people to attack again. (OK I know gloom and doom)

My point is this we really need to take a good look at what is really important to us as a country and be grateful that we can still go to other parts of the world to visit people and places than are so important to us and make it back home safe and sound.

The example you talk about is very needed in our country and our attitudes really need an upward change here.

Thanks for all the "welcome home" comments!

Mike, yes Glasgow and London had armed guards. They had what appeared to be small, automatic weapons. They looked like smaller M-16s.

One of the US TV stations recently mentioned that an attack was also planned to take place at the Prague airport in Czech Republic (where I'm from originally). ... supposedly, US warned Czech Republic about it ... interestinly enough, nobody back home new about it ... the only time it was menioned was when this TV station had it in their news. I wonder what country they got us mixed up with!

Michaela, I did not hear about the Czech Republic threat yet. After being gone only 2 weeks, I am going through a mountain of regular mail and voice mails and trying to get my body clock back 6 hours again. I am a little behind on the news.
