triskaidekaphobia

By: Scott McClain

triskaidekaphobia \tris-ky-dek-uh-FOH-bee-uh\, noun:

A morbid fear of the number 13 or the date Friday the 13th.

It's Friday the 13th and Freddie hasn't showed his face....yet!

Do we stay home, not answer the phone, respond to emails, log into the MLS, call our sellers, contact our buyers etc?

Will the day turn into a shambles? Will it be just another day?

I'm not a superstitous person, nor do I doubt that I ever will be. Will I get a case of triskaidekaphobia today and neglect my duties...NO WAY!

But if any of you have this fear and need to hide under the desk please forward your calls to me. I will handle them with professionalism, honesty, integrity and grace.....but any "NEW BUSINESS" is mine to keep! Wink

You, Scott, are the first to be a beneficiary of my lucky wand.

I'm really not superstitious, but I was hit by a drunk driver on Friday the 13th and ever since then it's kinda creeped me out.

Jay,

I have to apologize because my first instinct was to laugh at the way you wrote that comment about Friday the 13th!  I hope it wasn't too serious, but it sure would make you think hmmmmm for the rest of your life!

I have no fear of Friday the 13th, however, my grandfather, my uncle and a beloved cat all died on Friday the 13th.  Coincidence?

I also got married on Friday the 13th - in Reno.  It was Good Friday as well, so it balanced out.

Not too serious Sharron. Concussion, 34 stitches in my head and a broken wrist. Totaled the car. I was actually very lucky, it could have been a lot worse.

The worst part was the driver left the scene. A witness got his license plate, the cops ran it and saw he had 4 (FOUR!) previous DUI convictions. They said it was a "low priority" since there wasn't "serious bodily harm" (Yeah, tell that to the guy with 34 stitches in his head and who didn't know his own name for two days. Not to mention I  looked like Frankenstein for a month)

They got around to stopping by his apartment two days later. Of course it was empty and he was long gone. I assume he's still out there, drinking and driving. Unless he's managed to kill someone by now.

I laugh now too, but it sure wasn't funny when it happened! In a pathetic display of compassion and understanding, my employer at the time gave me a formal written warning because I didn't call in absent (I was on my way to work when it happened). I couldn't sign the warning because my wrist was in a cast.... can you believe that?

And my kids (who weren't even a glimmer in my eye when it happened) sometimes claim the doctors must have missed some permanent brain damage.  :)

I wonder if I'd remember the actual day/date if it didn't happen to occur on Friday the 13th? Probably not, because now I don't even recall what month it was -- April, May, somewhere around there. But Friday the 13th I haven't forgotten...

You will have to post your url to your jellyfish story for the newbies. I will never forget that.
