Search Engine Optimization

First of all I would like to thank Point2 for creating another avenue to network with our peers. Just a quick observation: Hasn't everyone been inundated with website sales, internet marketing companies, SEO marketing, etc. for your businesses? Who do you trust, who do you believe? I personally believe that Point2 has given us many tools to succeed and an excellent product. But, having a website isn't the key to leads or internet success. Marketing is the ultimate solution to getting leads but that alone doesn't guarantee a conversion to a client. That is what I struggle with and hope this forum can provide some success stories and strategies! I would like to say that I have made some requests on the member forum without a response from Point2. Here are a few let me know what you think. 1) Allow reciprocal linking between members just like the handshake agreements-from what I understand this helps in Search engines 2) Allow a customer opt-in list form on the website to capture leads-you can offer the free reports, a newsletter etc. then place them on the drip emails. Our sites need to be for capturing leads and client conversions. I get some good traffic but minimal conversion. Once again thank you and looking forward to learning from my peers!

Perspectively the online objective is purely to generate the lead. taking it beyond this level to an online conversion to closing still relies on traditional methods of face to face meetings.

Do you mean that leads never translate to the personal interaction point? Or are are you hoping for full online conversion to close?

Perhaps the key is to have trigger documents that are more commiting on the site , this way the client will be reluctant to make initial contact without actually committing , thus weeding out the un-interested client fishing with no intention of commiting. eg online appointment scheduler to view listing , buyer manadate to enter negotiations for the advertised listing etc.

What kind of conversion rate would you find acceptable?  I get about 10% of my site visitors to register.  I think this is about 3 times the national average?  Anybody else?

I get about 600 unique visitors a month and about 60 registratations a month so I think I'm right there with you Lonn.  I wish I could get more unique visitors to my site and therefore more registrations, but my biggest issue is conversion once you've got them registered! :0

Edward, your first issue :"1) Allow reciprocal linking between members just like the handshake agreements-from what I understand this helps in Search engines " actually is already addressed although a lot of agents don't use the linking back through point2 because links from bad or poorly ranking pages can actually HURT your SERPs.  However, you can turn on links in your online office an it will create a page with about 20 links or so on it from other P2 sites around the globe!

Last year I averaged 43 unique visitors a day, which comes out to about 1200 a month. I had about 450 new prospect register last year, which comes out to about 37 a month. I guess I'm below average. This January I'm averaging 79 unique visitors per day.

I turned off my registration in January and have receved far fewer contacts. However, the quality of contacts have dramatically increased. I have now turned registration back on - last week.
