Spring Break and vacations for agents?

So here we are on spring break!  So just got me to wondering, how many agents take this opportunity to take their vacations this time of year before the home selling season really gets GOING!

I've found that technology makes it easy to do business from anywhere, or just about!  Efaxes, email, cell phones and the internet....all wonderful tools for distance business.

Do you take regular vacations and when you do are they working vacations or NO WORK ALLOWED vacations?

My husband and I both own our own business so there is nobody to tell us to go home at the end of the day. Vacations are planned spur of the moment when one of us is borderline burnt out. We either talk about work or call and check phone messages when we are gone, it is hard to unplug and sometimes you just don't feel you can. This Spring Break I will have no break but will be taking my 15 yr old granddaughter out shopping for a "pink prom dress". My husband has learned after 20 years in his business to unplug, but I just can't miss a deal. He doesn't understand why I even watch "House Hunters" on tv when I am off work. But enjoy your spring break if you can....

Great question Ron!  I know that with 3 teenagers (15,16 &17), the "SPRING BREAK" vacation is dictated by stronger forces than either slow or busy market conditions.  I sometimes even feel a little guilty with regards to my customers, especially "listing" clients when I "HAVE" to leave for this type of vacation.

The reality is that we all need some time to focus and reflect on the more important things in life...ie children, vacations and spending time with the people we love the most.

If the truth be known, I guess ultimately, I'm a little happy that the "dictated forces" mandate this time away from the career.

So enjoy that Spring Break with your family....

but don't forget to pack that PDA or Computer....Just in case.

Spring break? What is that?

Sound like a wonderful thing though. Last year durning the summer, I took a 2 week vacation for the first time since my honeymoon in 1993. BOY was that weird. Went to Yellowstone and had one of the best times of my life with the kids (Hiking, Fishing and Just hangin out)

Well, my son goes away with his mother for the week before spring break and then spends spring break with me. We do lots of day-trips and stuff, like the zoo (yes, in Toronto where it is often 0F or colder for spring break), science center, etc. I take my son to a resort for a week every Summer, plus we have another 2 weeks camping just me and him sometime during the Summer. Sometimes we camp in a tent in the wilds of Northern Ontario and sometime we camp in a suite in a hotel in Downtown Toronto.

My better half and I (she runs my office) go away for a 3 or 4 day weekend once a month (businesstalk before noon only), plus a week over new years, plus numerous other trips. I only work 37.5 hours a week in my real estate business, so she sees a lot of me anyway, plus we as a family have an antique business and an ebay business and my son (12) has a flyer-delivery business and is launching a tutoring business. So, sometimes it is hard to get away, but we do spend a ton of time doing family stuff anyway.

Well, here I am in one of THE spring break destinations, Daytona Beach.

I hardly ever go anywhere because I feel like I'm on "permanent vacation" here in Florida.  I'm originally from Massachusetts so I know snow and cold all too well.
