My apologies, Egg or Chicken

By: Ron Tarvin

First my thanks to everyone who commented on my last post about intellectual property infringement.

Secondly, my apologies for erasing all the commentary.  After contacting the agent in question, I felt is was only best to remove that post as I posted it without having given him time to respond.  He has responded and he had allowed his assistant (who isn't even with him anymore) to build the site...he didn't even know what was on it.

Thirdly, my apologies to the agent in question, and while I do not wish to republish their name to try to clean up my mess, he has responded with speed and dignity to a very embarassing situation.

If anyone has comments to make about intellectual property infringement, feel free to use this post to get your feelings out!  It seems to be a pretty hot topic...I know I was HOT about it last night when I found what I did!

Ron,

We've all jumped the gun on occasion.  With me it usually involves my kids and I've had to eat them words! However, the more effort I put into my website, I find I'm becoming almost as protective of it.

You have responded with speed and dignity, as well.  You live up the claim of Honesy and Integrity.

By the way guys and gals, PLEASE don't email or call the agent in question...he got an ugly email from someone on this blog and while it probably shouldn't have happened, I take full responsibility for it.  I should NOT have jumped the gun.

Take a lesson from me...humble pie isn't very good.  It tastes more like crow.

Don't be so hard on yourself. We all needed a place to vent or we'll blow a gasket. I learn a lot - from you and the others.

Now does anybody know how I can make a copy of that DVD I was talking about?

Ron, you were just venting like all of us take opportunity to do here. It is not your fault someone contacted him, must have been mob mentality. All is well.

Answer to chicken or egg. I think maybe chicken now and egg in the morning.

I congratulate you Ron. You are a true man and a true gentleman. Not anyone accepts mistakes and mostly publicly like you are doing. I totally understood your first post as well as this one.

Hey we all need to vent it out once in a while.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

It's good that the other party acted with speed and dignity but on the other hand when you have an assistant you are ultimately responsible for what they do.

The sign of any good business or business person is how the handle the situation when a problem does arise.

I'm glad it was worked out Ron.

But really, the "my assistant did it", or "my web guy did it" is a pretty lame excuse. And the courts see it that way too. We are responsible for what is on our sites, regardless of who put it there.

Class moves on both your, and the offending agents sides though.
