Making a Living With Real Estate

You "gotta" love people to be a realtor! I see this as the ultimate "service" career.

In my way of thinking, one of the most important services that I can offer another is to help him or her to  make a great real estate decision.

Today, Steve and I spent the day with two great people who are thinking about purchasing a second home here in Blairsville, Georgia. They are delightful people and we are thrilled to give them our Blairsville Mountain Tour. They are really on a fact-finding mission and unsure of whether they will make a purchase. We are totallly okay with that.

Of course, this is our second career. How do you survive if you do not have a retirement/pension plan backing you up? This just would be awful if we had to choose between paying our mortgage or stretching the truth to a client.

How could you even think such a thing?

This is a service business and if you continue offering great service, you may start seeing the rewards. It does take time to build a client base of satisfied customers, and you could  be surprised that by offering friendly, honest, and ethical service you may not need a pension plan, or even have a mortgage to pay! Yes this can be a very rewarding business!

Those who stretch the truth as you say, will never survive. Might just barely get started. Some Realtors treat this as a job, others choose it as a career. If you think this is an option, you're in the wrong business.

I feel bad in responding this way and may have taken your post the wrong way, but if that is what you think it takes to be sucsessful and pay the mortgage you have it all wrong.

Of course.

I agree you, Adrienne.

I hope that was a type-o of some sort.  But, as stated, it sounds like Sharron & Steve are saying those of use who do this full time and without retirement pensions must lie to make a living.

I'd rather live in a cardboard box than stretch the truth with a client.  And I will not associate with anyone who does differently.
