How have you been adjusting your advertising dollars lately?

The statistics provided by Point2 have really helped me to assess the effectiveness of my online advertising dollars. I just wish that I was able to more easily understand the impact of my Point2 Neighborhoods.

I agree Sharron, I am in the middle on the neighborhood thing, but I have adjusted some on the type of advertising I do locally and with P2 rocking like it does and putting url riders on my signs, my local paper advertising is hardly worth the comparison in value. I only advertise a little with them because it is a back scratching type thing, he gives me free press once in a while and I advertise in his paper.

I am going through the same thing. I just canceled Homes.com because I don't think I am getting anything from it. One thing about the local media, like newspapers, it does usually...bring in quick buyers, where the internet brings in the ones months out. So I am working on tweaking.

What I like is newspapers who put the ads on the internet and I put my web address. Our Express News does that, they can actually click on my web address and go direct to my site. And yes, I use different domain names through Point 2 depending on what I advertise.

I am in the middle too. It is so hard to know. But main thing is keep it up. A business should spend at least 10% of their gross on advertising. One way or another.

It seems to be a never ending battle of change.  What used to work doesn't work anymore, or work as well.

We have stopped with print advertising as that doesn't work anymore on this area.  I've heard the same from several other agents.

As far as the internet, I think that will be forever adjusting as more and more websites come online and get noticed.

Not sure theat the P2 neighborhoods brings in high volume traffic. I've had my yahoo. pay per click on this weekend and brought in ten prospects in a weekend. The cost was around $100 but $10 per is below the average. Print is DEAD.

Yeah, I have had them for a while now.  I thought they were doing some good, but I really don't think they are.

I'm going to skip the next time and see.....

I have my neighborhoods included with the Premium subscription, so I don't really worry that much whether they do or do not bring in traffic. I did however notice that Point2homes website is starting to get better results in my area for local searches than it used to. And the click-throughs coming to my site from P2homes has also increased.

Michaela,

You said that the click throughs coming from your P2 homes has increased. Do you attribute that to your neighborhoods>

I didn't even realized it ... but I just went back and looked at my latest neighborhood report (from about 3 weeks ago) and the numbers were 55 & 71 which in my case means the visits have more than doubled from what they used to be even two or three months ago. I would still like to see these numbers be higher as I don't know how many of those were public and how many were agents but I do see more visitors, that's for sure. The number of visitors coming from "non-neighborhood" part of Point2homes has also maybe doubled or so ... so overall, it's looking better!

The problem is that many of the neighborhoods are only 100-200 homes in them, so in order to take advantage of a large area, you have to buy A LOT of neighborhoods.

I wish there were "areas" that included several neighborhoods in it or "cities" that we could buy instead of just one neighborhood.  I think that would be much better.
