Are You Wearing Your Pajamas Right Now?

By: Sharron and Steve Lobman
Monday, June 04, 2007 9:02 AM

Am I talking to a "pajama crowd?"

I picture most of just as you look in your photos, but seriously, I doubt that Jay wears a suit ALL of the time! It doesn't seem likely that Mary is always standing outside beside a for sale sign, patiently waiting for the next buyer!

So, W]where do you do most of your work on your web page and your online participation?

I do my best work while sitting in my recliner with my lap top on my lap (of course) and my little poodle snoring beside me.

And that photo of me? Well, I just can't get that much done when I am standing outside with Steve's arm around me, but that's another story!

P.S. - I just joined a gym. When they measured me, they discovered I have the strongest wrist muscle of anyone else--and I can thank my laptop for that!

Ok, right now I am in pj's. I slept in today because I was up late last night. And yes, I am still standing beside that sign in Wales, UK. I had better get back to Kansas and sell something before my sellers find out I left the country (in my pjs).

That gym you joined, it isn't Todds couch is it? He goes to the gym too, but remember he named his couch gym.

I'm sitting here with a baseball cap on because I haven't combed my hair yet. I put it on to go out and retrieve my newspaper and feed a couple of stray cats but sometimes forget it's still on my lid. Naturally curley hair is a mess before it gets washed, going in all directions, but at least there's plenty of it still there! I have a big black cat that lays on my desk and keeps nudging my arm farther and farther from the mouse and lays her head on my forearm all the time. I finally have to stop, pick her up and move her over a few inches to get some arm movement.

Gene,

My poodle does the same thing! She bats my hand with her paw and tries to make me pet her! (So I usuallydo!)

I just love getting ad calls while watching TV etc.

No floor time here. I'm always in my bunny slippers...kidding.

Sharron: I did look at your website and I'm wondering how you got the buttons on the menu to have a dropdown with related links? I didn't see that feature on p2.

Hey Dan -

About those drop downs.  It was on another forum post that someone mentioned some sites to go to.  Dynamic Drive was one of them.  When I get my Master's in programming I will hopefully get them on my site too!  :)  Seriously, it doesn't look that hard to program but once I do I don't know how to get them on the site.

Anyhow, great site Sharron!!

no longer in my PJs ... ready to hit the road. We might be getting a new truck today (not a pickup ... an 18-wheeler). What's going through my mind is that the $2000/month payment that get's you a new truck (roughly $115K - $125K that you need to pay off in 4 or 5 years ...with some 11% - 13% interest rate, which is normal in the trucking business)  would pay for a decent house! But, if the old one is falling appart, you gotta do what you gotta do! So, no happy real estate thoughts for me today.

Speaking of pets ... it's raining quite hard around here right since early morning ... and when I "forced" my German shep out into the back yard today, he decided to go for a revange and had me stand in the rain for almost 15 minutes before he finally came back and let me take him into the garage ... him, spending the 15 minutes in a treehouse with nice roof (it's a second story treehouse with stairs and a slide ... courtesy of the previous owners) ... me standing in the rain by the fence gate praying and hoping and screaming at him and feeling helpless :-) ... he just loves doing this to me!

I'm still in my pj's.  It's only a little after 8 am on the west coast.  I have a ferret that I just gave a bath.  She's running around like a crazy weasel trying to get me to play with her.

No shower yet as I have been catching up and on the phone/laptop with ppl.  Every so often I skip out to the pool (love wi-fi at my house) and work there, the glare off the computer gets to me though, and then its appointments usually at night/late afternoon.

You have to love a career that you can 'lounge' around and not have to be at the office for 8 a.m. Most ppl think we are glorified stay-at-homers but when we are working pj's are definately out!  And, I know, we work ALOT!!!!

Gene - really - you need a web cam. Gotta see that!!!

Mowed the lawn this morning and finally showered.  In shorts and t-shirt listening for my 17 month old to wake up so we can go drop off flyers and pick up a sign and swing by my old office to drop off some referral money.  I think he is destined to be an agent yet!

"...but seriously, I doubt that Jay wears a suit ALL of the time!"

Jay wears a suit to weddings, funerals, and for business card pictures. And that is IT. I can't even fit into that suit any more.

It's supposed to be 108 here today. That means shorts, flip-flops and a t-shirt -- standard attire around the house. No one in their right mind wears a suit or a tie in Phoenix in the summer time.

Regarding custom menus with drop-downs... be careful with the scripts from Dynamic Drive. Many of them utilize DHTML which can not be "seen" by search engines. Sharron's were set up in CSS/JavaScript that CAN be seen by search engines. If you want to go it alone with implementing custom menus, I suggest InfiniteMenus from OpenCube.com ($139). Be aware though, the documentation is horrific (basically non-existent) and the learning curve can be steep.

Since there aren't supposed to be "commercials" on RELib, I won't mention names, but there are people who can set up custom menus on your site for a reasonable fee........

Leesa wrote, "Seriously, it doesn't look that hard to program but once I do I don't know how to get them on the site."

You probably want to put the code that is generated in an Advanced Content module. Where you want your menu to appear on your page dictates what section to put them in. If you put the code in the common template, it makes it *much* easier to get them on every page.

Yep, still in my PJ's, hair in a pony tail.  It's too darn hot to wear a suit, let alone pantyhose.  Who wears those anymore?!

I've returned phone calls and got my son ready for camp this morning  I'm hoping to get caught up on paperwork today. June happened while I wasn't looking.

Made it out of my pj's and into jeans and a t-shirt.  Hair looks like the wicked witch of the west.  It's about 1:00 pm here on the East Coast.  Getting a new listing today (former buyer) and two new, serious, buyers (they called ME) without leaving the comfort of my cocoon.  Webcams are not for me!  It's been pouring outside.  Lake Clark is rising, thank heavens for sump pumps.

This thread came along at just the right time!  About a week ago, a relative of mine, whom I've never been on really good terms with, said Realtors who work from home are "posers".  HIS father-in-law is a Realtor and at the office by 8:00 a.m., seven days a week (in the most pompous tone you can imagine!).  HE has been selling Real Estate for 30 years and never works from home!  I said "That's nice" (smile) and kept my mouth shut after that.  His father-in-law is a great guy and would never say a bad word against anyone.  And, yes, he's an excellent Realtor.

What I wanted to say:  I'm at my "office" at 5:30 every morning and again at 10:00 at night, and several points in between.  In the meantime, I have my real estate appts, raise two kids, mow the lawn, clean gutters, do laundry, take care of four elders and their insurance/medical issues, lawns, shopping, etc.  All the while, "Mr. Pompous" is out flying planes and playing golf.  BTW, did I mention that one of those elders is the mother of "Mr. Pompous", my EX-Mother-in-law?  One of the other elders is his Aunt with Alzheimers.

Thank you for allowing me to vent (not that y'all had choice!)....I feel better now.  I was going to be asking Gregory for some of his meds.  What a great Country!  And what a great place this (Relib) is!

Gotta love those pj's.  Best mind relaxer out there when working from home and talking to clients.

Cathy, if all else fails, put the four adults in a boat out on Lake for a couple of hours when you need a break.  Don't allow them to return until you hit the remote control button.

Last night I had four hours extra in my schedule and didn't know what to do with it.  I was shocked and could have slipped into my pj's but I didn't.

Relib is great and so are the people!

I get up early and put on jogging shorts and a polo and check my emails from overnight while having my coffee. Of course, I don't jog or play polo, it's just the outfit. Then I take my shower and change into my real estate uniform, home or away, khakis and a polo. Since I've always worked from a home office in my career, I want to be comfortable but prepared to do business and dressed but casual works best for me.

BTW Jay, we aren't banning recommendations, are we, I thought we were just ridding our group of shameless self promotion. Give it up, I'd like that menu.

It is 10pm, I just got home from a listing presentation and the first thing I did was through off the "uniform" and get into my PJ's!!  Now I am in my chair, with my drink, with my laptop, watching baseball and reading what happened today.

I mix up my day with office and home.  I find I get a little more done when I am at the office...  but I like working from home.

Howard - I figured if I said, "I can make a menu for you " it would be shameless self-promotion, a trait I'm not terribly fond of whether it's against the rules or not.

Now Sharron giving a recommendation, that's different, and very much appreciated!!

Sharron, did you get my email about adding to your menu?
