I Call: Therefore I Telemarket?

Since we've been talking about our "antics" with telemarketers, I have been thinking about the "cold calling" that I do.

Whenever someone leaves a message that includes his/her phone number at my website or my IDX provider, I immediately make a phone call.

When I first started in this biz, I didn't call. I had always heard that "Internet buyers are different,"  so I listened to the advice of others and I simply corresponded with these prospects through e-mail

After a while, I began to suspect that I was losing these potential clients, so I began calling them.

I must say that I have never been sorry that I called. It's probably my charming personality and winning ways,(lol) but it seems like people really like to talk to someone. I actually kind of take the role of a "real estate counselor." I ask questions that make them think about what they are looking for and I promise to provide them with listings that match their goals. Of course, I follow through on my promises.

How do you respond to people who register at your site? Do you call them or do you simply put them on "Drip Mail?" Or do you call and drip?

I call and drip.  I also find that calling gets better results than drip/email alone.  I don't consider it cold calling, since they left their number and should be expecting a call (warm call?).  Of course, I have to weed through the fake numbers. Don't understand why they bother to give a fake number when it is optional.  Guess they just like to mess with me.

Maybe my website is the Twilight Zone.  I don't know about you but all I get is crap.  The very few people who have replied from my site have been fonies.  Many have left bogus phone numbers.  Other few that left me a real phone number, I called them but I was never able to talk to one person.  I could only leave a message (s) that were never returned.

So I email them, instead (they never answer back either) . That way I am not wasting a phone call.

I have over 3000 names in my database and some have been there for years. I can tell with our system if they are opening the emails and just closed one a few weeks ago that was three years old. Stay in there in box and when the time is right you will get the sale

I agree - CALL!  I just picked up a listing And a buyer from my website by calling and emailing.  Dripping is great, but talking is better!

One thing about it though, you have to get traffic to your site before any of this will happen.  Check out my recent blog about building traffic to our sites through link building and improved Google rankings.
