Drip, drip

For the past few days, I have had a message on my P2 "To Do List" telling me to "Keep in Touch with Drip e-Mails."

I do use the P2 e-mails, but I also utilize the drip mail that comes with another vendor that we retain. Do you use P2 exclusively for your drip mail?

I know that Becky Troutt has gone in and changed all of the P2 drip mails to suit her needs. What have the rest of you fine people been doing with this task?

I also do custom drips through Point 2. That is the only one I use. I use theirs and send one of my own out once a while, like the free map one and about summer being busy and please make appointments now. I like to see them all return and to my web page and view again. It is so neat how you can tell what they looked at.

I was paying over $200 a year just for a Drip E-mail program (don't tell p2)

I haven't had a chance to customize the drip e-mails yet, but plan on it.

I find it easier when its part of the same web site to use their drip e-mails.

The main thing is to keep in contact and interact with your visitors when you can.

Someone else was saying that the drip mail from P2A goes right into the SPAM folder or most email accounts. I don't know if that is true or not. Have you set yourself up to receive drip mail, and did your other account allow it?

Gregory,

It does go into the spam folder with Yahoo and AOL unless they have you on your approved list.

I customized most of them and added personal footers also.  It does go right to spam - even client responses.  I have had two clients that their system wouldn't accept them at all and they are returned.  I use them ALOT and also add in e-cards for special occassions rather than using traditional mailings.

They seem to work well, especially with the ppl not buying right away - Unless they are on multiple campaigns and then it is too much.

I think this is one of the best features of p2.

Trista, the only way the system might work as it was intended is for you to send a copy to your email and then you would need to copy and paste it so you could re-send it from a more acceptable email address such as yourname@verizon,comcast,hotmail.etc otherwise I don't see how the campaign of drip mail could work. It all goes to spam and my spam folder does not return the message to the sender. So, spammers never know their automatic system does not work. They just don't get any response.

Drips going to spam is a problem with any system that sends large volumes of mail regularly. It even happens with our MLS auto-listings emails.

I know a significant portion of our drips get through and get read, because I get responses to them.

Drips can be a very powerful tool. I wouldn't stop using them just because some get caught in spam filters.

How would you answer this question if the date  was 1997 instead of 2007? LOL

Well, it really depends on how you hold the can when opening. That and the over all temperature of the day. I think when I lived in Florida the Spam dripped all the time. NJ, not so much.

It doesn't surprise me that many P2A emails go into recipients spam folders. Consider how many real estate agents are using P2A...then consider how many email messages from these agents may be flagged as "spam"...even if the recipient double opted in for the messages! Enough of these "flags" and suddenly Yahoo, AOL, Earthlink and other big ISPs automatically dump any message from P2A email servers into recipients spam boxes.

For what it's worth I keep my email service seperate from P2A. My website is hosted by P2A; my email service is with Go Daddy.com. Cost is $20.00/annually.

I also have my URL registered w/ another registrar besides Go Daddy. I've read instances where Go Daddy temporarily seized one of their register URLs after receiving a spam complaint. The URL was held until the owner agreed to pay a few hundred dollars to release it.
