So tell me, what's it all about? How many of you go on vacations? Who covers for you when you are gone? How long of a vacation do you take? How about cell phones--on or off?
I need advice!!!!
Hi Sharron and Steve,
I can use the same good Realtor every year whenever I go away because I have always made it worth the Realtors while to handle my listings as I would myself. I give the Realtor a real good file on my listings and pay a 25% referral fee on the listing side to the Realtor AND the selling side if she sells it herself. I give her the passwords to my phone for messages and e-mails.
Some folks in my office deem it enough to return the favor but it seems nothing ever gets done... my way they try to make something happen. I have had up to three listings sell while on holiday and once had my sub procure a listing from one of my clients while away... she got a 40% share of that listing whenever it sold.
My sub went to Convention in Vegas the same as me this year and we both assigned our listings to her friend... the girl did one sale for each of us and double ended one, BTW, the friend had no listings but she was a worker!
The secret to this Sharron and Steve is simply... If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys!
Good Selling!

I didn't vacation last year - I stayed home with the dogs! This year, we're taking a road trip from Seattle to San Diego and will be gone for a week & a half. I don't need anyone to cover for me -- I will notify my clients that I'll be gone, but checking in on my laptop, cell phone, etc. We have a time share in Vegas that we traded, so it's a condo and pretty much like being at home. Wireless internet, kitchen, etc. We'll be spending evenings in, anyway, so I might as well work. If anything comes up, my team leader will cover for me. It's a pretty sweet deal.
Lazy days of summer, not always for me. Usually people move in the summer before school starts up again so I will be busy as usual. I kind of remember what a vacation was though, and I took my cell phone and checked my email every chance I got. If you are talking 2 weeks away the only way I can totally unplug is to leave the country. Since I am IT I have no one to ask to take care of things.
So how long are you thinking about being gone?
I don't usually vacation in the summer. I prefer to go away in the winter, when it's 20 below here. I alway keep my cell phone on and have access to a computer.
I am leaving on Sunday and returning on the 5th. I have a cottage so I can still have my cell. All messages go to VM but I listen to them at night to see if there is anyone that I absolutly have to call back. I email all my clients that I will be out and call the unplugged clients. I also leave a mess. on VM and my cell that I am out.
I have all info calls on my listings go to another agent in the office so I don't get those calls anyway. Seems to me that each time I have gone away I have gotten a contract on something. I keep telling my husband that we need to go away more often!
